Solid Compensator
Kingsglide549. How long have you been running that BDL set up ? Any particular observations good or bad of the set up ? Install ease ? Do you carry a spare belt ? What model number and price if you recall ? Thanks.
I started a major overhaul which has turned into a whole bunch of things.
The install for BDL is EZ enough but their directions so suck.
I ended up calling them and they were more than EZ to get a hold of.
I have zero miles on it as my head are still off and there is a foot of snow out there.!
I used to run a Karrata belt on my shovel, no problems.
I have gone through several compensators in the last couple of years and got to thinking why not just go Belt drive again.
A friend of mine gets over 20K miles per belt.
I did buy a spare but as I said -no exp yet with it, or the new BDL lock-up clutch.
That is the whole point of this thread-
I know of no scissored crank- internet and all from just a comp deletion.
I could list thousands of pages of people that will repeat crap about it going to happen.
Remember HD wants to sell you crap and more crap and a stage kit too
S&S says it takes about 2500 lbs of TQ to shft a set of wheels
A comp will nullify the first couple impulses, at that point, it either has to be one to one with the crank,
or doing its own thing which would mean it is taking the TQ and moving it to another place.
Being there is no "other place" the power impulses have to be delivered to the transmission after the spring winds up in the comp.
That is faster than one second or you would be hearing about "comp lag"

A comp will buffer power impulses at low-speed low power.
I would not have one.
The crank feels everything as i said, once you overpower the comp.
(which does not take much)
I know of no one anywhere that regrets throwing the POS off his bike.
