06 Elecra Glide Ultra Classic cruise will not hold throttle
I am new to the forum but have been able to solve several issues already with a 06 UC from reading posts on this forum. This one is a bit strange because I have performed the initialization procedure but do not get the rise in RPM as it should. When I am on the road, I can engage the cruise but the bike slows down and the cruise indicator turns red after about 15-20 mph decrease. Is there a specific procedure to "rig" or setup the cable prior to performing the cruise initialization? Any way to check the cruise module for issues? I am sure this is not a new issue but need a bit of direction to get is fixed. Thanks for your time.
The electrical diagnostic manual has a flow chart for testing. I had a loose wire in my headlight housing. You can still get the stripper cable from HD. I bought 2 spares. Also the modules are available on Ebay I bought spares of those also. One of them was nos!
You may well have a broken or disconnected tape from the cruise control unit to the throttle body. If you never got a throttle rise doing the setup, it's not opening the throttle.
foxtrapper, I pulled the unit this am, disengaged and pulled back the cable connector. The tape is intact, I could feel the cable bottom out at the clip on the throttle arm. Put it all back together and now going through troubleshooting in the manual Tarkus60 gave me the link to.
