I have been tossing around the idea of putting SE 255 or SE 254e cams in my bike. Stock currently buy will have SE nightstick and an SE air cleaner in it.
Some questions,
1) Are either of these cams pr both ok in the 96" motor?
2) Will the SE 255 run out of steam in a highway passing situation?
3) will the SE 254e ne better than the stock cam off the line?
4) Is the CVO 255 the same came as the 25638-07?
5) Will either or both of these cams Void ESP if installed by the dealer? By me?
I have no experience with the 254e ? But the 255s are great low end torque cams. 255s are 255s same spec from the cvo. Thats what i have in cvo road king with Rinehart true duals, 58mm throttle body and a good dyno tune and it runs and pulls great and it doesn't feel like it runs out of steam and the dyno sheet confirms that. Alot of people will crap on the 255s but it's funny they were "the cam" a few years ago and alot of people put them in their bikes. My buddy has them in his 2010 street glide with thr 96" with a vance and hines pro pipe and a good dyno tune and if he gets the jump on me I have to work to reel him in. I have no idea about them voiding the warranty...your dealer can answer that. Are there better aftermarket cams available? Yes, but there's a good chance they'll void your warranty. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the response. Are there any recommendation on things that should also be changed when installing these on a 96" motor like SE clutch spring, valve springs, compensator, or primary tensioner etc...
what's better doing the teardown and using stock pushrods or cutting the old ones out and using collapsible ones?
Unless something is wrong in the primary leave it alone , the stock clutch and other parts in there will handle a stage 2 96" motor. While in the cam chest swap out the inner cam bearings for some koyo bearings. Lifters ...anything other than hd's are better, can't go wrong with s and s standard lifters. Adjustable pushrods are nice if you don't like taking off your gas tank and pulling rocker boxes. Some guys don't like adjustables but for me anytime I don't have to take something apart there's no chance of it leaking or me doing something wrong reassembling it. Again s and s makes a quickie adjustable. I've only used screamin eagle in my bike and they've been trouble free.
I am one that rags on 255s but in a low compression 96 they are not a terrible choice. But, They do run out around 4500 and Andrews 48 are a better choice for your 96. I would not have the dealer do the install if you are worried about warranty unless ya get something in writing.

Thanks for the input, " I would not have the dealer do the install if you are worried about warranty unless ya get something in writing."
What do you mean, why don't let them install?
I had the 48s put in my old 2011 FXDB. I would highly recommend looking into these. Fuel Moto has a kit that includes the cams, bearings, and gaskets for ~$400. You can add lifters if you decide you want to replace them while in there. I did not as I only had 10k miles on the bike. I had an Indy install them for $400 in Northern VA. Not sure where you are located (on phone) but if close to here I can pass along his information.
