RE: 2017 Roadglide Special
Rear Shock set for soft ride. When I hit a reasonable sized bump or small pothole, It gives me a pretty significant jar to my back, as if I were on my 57. What kind of tire pressure are people using on late model baggers?
Thanks,
Sam

Whats the sticker on your frame say. I'd use that.
I do not think that it is the year of bike but more what the tire is rated for. On a Touring bike, this seems to be the most recommended on what I have read. YMMV
Sounds like you might need a shock adjustment or shop for aftermarket shocks. I never could get Harley shocks adjusted to avoid what you're experiencing.
my roadglide rode like a hardtail,( and I do have a hardtail, big dog pitbull).
I have removed the "stock airshocks" replaced them with aftermarket airshocks .
they too are gone .
I put on a pair of "coil over shocks " , dialed them in and now is pretty decent ride.
automobile dealers use the trick of "low tires " to make there unit ride better.
Why should tire pressure be used as suspension ???????

Welcome to the ride characteristics of the 12" Harley rear shock.
Maybe you're thinking of reducing tire pressure to get a softer ride? Don't. Run the recommended pressures and look into some decent rear suspension.
Look in your manual and follow their recommended setting for your shocks. If you set it up too soft the bumps get worse. Lots of folks get tired of the poor quality shocks that come on these bike and change them out. $500-$800 expense.
The RGS rear suspension isn't for everyone. The lower suspension is firm. As mentioned, 40 psi rear, 36 psi front. She'll ride like she's on rails but the suspension is anything but plush.
