WoodButcher66 ..........I went for a motorcycle ride today, was 80 degrees here in Tucson AZ., I had replaced stock windshield with same height as my LRS windshield (11 inch) I currently have the LRS 11 inch windshield installed but because of the design of the flip up top of windshield, directly air up and over my helmet, I am really thinking of going to a 1 inch shorter windshield (10 inch LRS) to give me more road visibility and keeping the wind buffering the same. Was really impressed with the LRS for redirecting wind over my helmet. I am thinking of going to a 1 inch shorter LRS windshield, replacing the 11 inch LRS windshield that I won’t really notice any difference in wind buffering. And the gas tank lifting kit is something I feel helps lesson wind buffering.
So I know there is a zillion posts on this but there are so many different views and most the ones I saw are guys over 6’0 asking.. well I’m only 5’6” and I have an 08 SG.. currently I have a 6” windshield with the indents on the sides. It’s right at the height where I can see over it but at 70mph the buffeting is insane! I thought of maybe going to a 7” but I feel the top edge will be right at my eye level and if I went to an 8” I’d always be looking through the windshield which I really don’t want..
any short folks offer up some suggestions?

8" Freedom Shields recurve, Fangs, Ashtray, open vent, and tank lift pretty much cured my buffeting problems. I'm in Northern Michigan so extreme heat is not too much of a concern. We will have several days a year that seem hot but realisticly they are Tucson late March temps.

I found a cheap helmet is no bueno also if I close the vents on my lowers is seems to push the air up between the tank and fairing if I run them open the air flows better
No 1 thing will resolve the wind issue. It takes a combination of the right parts. But has been mentioned already, Fork Fangs are an excellent start. They did more than ANYTHING in terms of reducing "bad wind". The Fangs in conjunction with my Long Rides recurve windshield and Dog Dish fork mounted deflector, absolutely mastered my wind issues.
