Thanks Chuck really good info. It is getting harder to work on our bikes every year. Looks like they watch to see what we do aftermarket and they design the bike so we can't do that anymore. Keeping my 05 for a long time!

Just wait, this is the Harley crowd we are talking about here, we may be a little Bichy but very ingenious with modifications. Come on guys, you will have ample opportunities to spend your money getting that extra horse or pound of TQ. If you want a bigger gas tank you can already get one, do you think thePC3 people will sit on their hands and cry while their business goes away, just watch. Just watch what kind of chrome comes on the market. I am pissed they wont have a retro fit abs for my 07 though, at least not yet.

Makes one wonder on the touring models, the ECM move to under the seat will limit the add-on of a PCIII etc. May not be room!
my thoughts exactually.

I was all fired up to get a 08 RG depending on the new changes; I’m in no hurry so I have time to think it over.

Likes
* Black power-coated engine with chrome covers on RG
* Bembo Brakes
* ABS braking system
* Isolated drive system, no biggie but nice
* 6 gal fuel tank, this is a big plus

Dislikes, going to be a while for some specific 08 aftermarket parts to be released
* I’m assuming it will be very lean
* New ECM/Location (probably have to wait a wile for a DTT or ThunderMax solution)
* Catalyst mufflers
* New Seat (OEM seat are terrible, hopping I would’ve been able to use my current Corbin)
* More specialize tools required for me to work on my own bike (maybe I won't like the new ABS system)
* Catalyst mufflers

Undecided
* Electronic throttle control
* New console

Like the brakes, gas tank, and shorter antenna. Think gettingan '07 was a good idea, I can deal with it's perceived shortcomings. In my mind it's a big step forward over my '87 FLHS, think I'll stand pat!

all it takes is a longer extension harness for the PC to hook up and be located elsewhere... VERY easy solution to that... it the electronic throttle that will be the problem imho....

I was a little woried I jumped and got another 07 but I can say I think it is really going to be the last true harley, the new changes will be an improvement for some. Now here we go again on things like the new ecm, electric throtle and that rubber dampner in the rear wheel, it is a wear out part They have been on metrics for 20 years. Anybody trying to build a hotter bike will eat them up, even under regular use it says to check the rubber contacts at regular intervals. Buyers best be ready to ride as is for a long time on the stock seat, no tuners will be there for awhile either, new EFI unit could have different mount so you will for awile be limited to what harley has developed to sell you. But as always the forum and aftermarket will come up with ways to get around a lot of this. I like the new brakes, (but have never had issues with hd brakes) some will like abs and the fact that cruise is now a easy add on to any 08 without all the hardware, being its built into the new ECM. Bigger tank is cool if it looks in porportion, the rest of the changes are wait and see to me. Soon you will see harley evolve into a goldwing/ VTX type water cooled motorcycle its coming and these changes are the first phase.

The brembo brakes are rebuildable! So much for getting them chromed! Why couldn't they use an American company for brakes? I guess the new head design makes the '07 heads as rare as the '06 heads. BTW are '06 & '07 heads the same?
