When i trailer my bike I use the B&W Biker Bar. No tie downs needed, no compressed forks. It holds my bike rock solid.

Invest in a Biker Bar, works great, no tie downs.

One inch. I mark it with painters tape on the forks so when it loosens up after a few miles I can set it back to 1”. I tried the “no compress” approach and it just wasn’t stable. This minimal compression really helps.

Not in gear, the bikes not going anywhere!

I use a Canyon Dancer in the front and strap to the passenger floorboard mounts in the rear.

That's how I have been doing it but Mister Harley advisor and Harley tech in Dallas said don't do it because the fender bolt will pull out. Not sure this way is actually pulling on those bolts unless it was bending the fork tubs.

I use ratchet straps just like anyone else. The method is individual preference. I try and keep the ratchet as low to the floor as I can. If a strap should break or come unhooked, the ratchet won't be so apt to be banging off the bike. I've seen that happen and it isn't pretty.
