Wow, an 80W140 weight gear oil in the primary? I saw that on the bottle and I'm kind of surprised. In cold climates that would be as thick as molasses in the clutch plates.

that is one of the uses that they are selling it for. though for the price, i think i would go with something a little cheaper in the primary. your'e just gonna dump it in 5k anyway, and full synthetic is just overkill for that application.
I've tried so many different oils in the primary after the last 25 years and the best performing by far is HD Formula+. I'm an Amsoil guy in the trans. and engine, but Formula+ all the way in the primary. This is on Evo's, Twin Cams and the M-8. Nothing shifts better or has a nicer release than Formula+.
Ok. So probably slightly over full, but not hugely so. Your clutch isnt swimming in oil.
If youre sure your clutch is adjusted right, and therefore fully clamping when released, its almost assuredly a fluid problem. Which I find surprising, but not unbelievable.
One other is that youve a worn clutch that was barely holding, and the new fluid tipped it over the point. Cant recall if you said anything about the clutch being new or not.

I ride year round in Wisconsin. Zero and below not uncommon and 10 degrees to 40's is fine . We did ride in 20 below this last winter for half the day. I had the same thing on my mine you do. It just did not seem to effect anything.
I only use Amsoil 15w-60 (which I can't say there was a performance difference in from the 20w-50) or 20w-50. You can leave the synthetic in there for 10k with no problems. I've tried a bunch, years ago we ran type F in the primary. 20w-50 in all three holes just makes it too easy.
