Default Loctite or not?

Removed the front wheel yesterday to repair the wire for the lights on the fender.
Question is, the shop manual says nothing about loctite on any of the three nuts that hold the axle.

Do I need to? I torgue them to th proper specs.

I use blue loctite and torque wrench for most applications, but I'm not sure when or if to use red loctite.

I use blue on the nuts you are talking about. Red loctite is considered permanent and cannot be removed without the application of heat. Not something you want to put on a "servicable" fastner.

After years of torching red loctite to remove, I know that I wouldnt want red on those nuts.

The reason I am raising this question is, I didnt see any on the nuts when I removed them. Nor on the studs / axle. And the manual says nothing about using it there.

I've had the front wheel off my '97 softail a dozen times, and if memory serves, I loctite the clamp studs but not the axle nut. But putting BLUE loctite on the axle nut can't hurt. So, if in doubt, loctite it.
Just don't use RED!

I agree with Tripper, blue loctite and torque wrench for most applications
