HD makes a Smart Security System (#68200-07A) for bikes that use a manual key to turn on the ignition. Anyone try this out? I'm wondering if this will completely eliminate the need for the key. The description is a bit vague. Thanks
It won't eliminate the key. It disables the start circuit until the fob is in range
"After riding your vehicle, park and switch the ignition off with your key. Within 5 seconds the Security System will automatically self-arm, disabling your vehicle starter, ignition and electronic fuel injection (EFI)."
OK, so if I leave the ignition in either fork lock or off but unlocked, nobody could hop on the bike and start it without the key fob in hand, correct?

Thanks, the lock portion of my ignition switch is worn and should probably be replaced/rebuilt. I haven't priced it out yet, but figured it's got to be at least a few hundred dollars. This security system could be a nice alternative.

Kawasaki has a funky system
The only time the key is removed is to open the gas cap or lock/remove the hard bags.
Otherwise it stays in the ignition all the time...
without the FOB, or the rescue FOB, the bike won't unlock the steering or power the ECU... but the key is left in the bike
