You also need to change out or move the antennas. The detachable two-up tour pak rack is part #53276-04 and the retail price is $149.95 - solo rack is $194.95 Antenna relocation kit is part #76326-00A and is $99.95 - hope this helps. I am dangerous with a HD catalog!
I added the Docking Kit to my , 03 FLHTCUI and what a pain in the butt that was. Unbeleivable! Seems so simple on the surface, but the alignment was the part I had the hardest time with. I ended up having to loosen several other bolts just in order to get everything to line up. It took me 3 + hours. All in all it was worth the effort because it adds a great deal of convenience to an Ultra, where you would otherwise have to leave the Tour Pack on. While I was at it I chopped my antenneas. They look awesome on the Tour Pack. I used the metal (old style) cellular phone looking AM/FM antenneas. I cut them down to an acceptable length and now I'm much happier with them. Plus it gives the bike a custom touch. One thing to note is you cannot use the CB if you cut your antennea down like I did. The CB radio is tuned to the length of the antennea. Not that it matters to me anyway, I never used CB anyway. Final point on the Docking Kit. If you are attemtping to install this on an Ultra the instructions say the kit is not compatiable with an FHLTCUI. That is false. The MoCo says that because of the additional wiring in the back for the Tour Pack (radio/cb antenneas, speaker wires, lighting, etc). That part is really simple, I just wrapped everything up with zip ties, placed them in zip lock bags and packed my wiring down really well under my seat. Voila! I put a Le Pera custom saddle on and the bike looks awesome. If you plan on using your radio, you'll need an antennea relocation kit as well. Good luck.
You also have to have a plan for the license plate bracket. I just installed HD's laydown license plate bracket. It looks real good with the tour pac off, and does not interfer when the tour pac is on.
Be sure to get the docking points on and the bracket lined up before you put the tour pac on the bracket. Once the tour pac is on the bracket, it is very heavy and hard to deal with if everything is not lined up. I learned the hard way.
I just picked up my 06 about 3 weekes ago. i was sure I wanted the Removable tour pak option installed before I took delivery. the dealer wanted 1K for this. $500 in parts and $500 in labor. This would have given me quick disconnects for the speakers/ all wires etc.Included the antena relocation etc..but the wife said she would treat me to this in the near future. Now I have to sleep with my eyes open everynight to watch her go thru my wallet to save for my gift (lol). Anyway just thought 1K was a bit much.
I look at it this way if you didn't want the tour pac them why buy the Ultra sounds like of lot of money for something to change out, should of purphase the Road King

To answer your question about the tour pac. I like my bike clean around town, and I think the touring bikes look great with a short windshield and the tour pac off.
For trips, which I do a bunch of, the tour pac is invaluable. I had a quick detach tour pac on my Roadking. Having a quick detach tour pac I am able to have the best of both worlds. A kick a$$ Street Glide when I want it , and a a full dress touring bike when I travel.
My wife even has a quick detach tour pack on her Heritage Softail.
