Ive never understood the rationale of wearing a helmet on a long trip but not on day trips or around town. Is the asphalt and ground softer on local and day trips? And honestly Im not trying to be a smart a$$ I just dont understand that way of thinking. My state does not have a helmet law but I always wear one even when its 105 degrees with 115 heat index. To each their own though, Im not a helmet preacher trying to convince anyone to wear one, your melon your choice
1970's Florida helmet law, now gone, saved my dumb, toasted ***. I ride NO where now without my lid
Full Face Helmets also provide the added benefit of hearing protection from the constant velocity of wind, vision protection and bug hits. It's more about my freedom to choose what and when. I seriously don't need a helmet making a quick trip to the grocery or hardware store or going to work, or a Sunday morning poker run. Half helmets seem to me to be a "barely complying" means anyways. If Dale Earnhardt Sr. would have been wearing a full-face helmet he may have survived. Just my .02....
Just an FYI. Dale Sr's death had nothing to do with the style of helmet he was wearing. The impact was so violent his head snapped forward basically breaking his neck. The thing that would have saved him is the restraint now imposed connecting the helmet to the seatback. He died because he made a decision to not use technology available.

No opinion on the make but if you wear a half without a windshield be sure to wear a good set of ear plugs! I rode for years with no helmet, no problems with my hearing. Then wore a half on a 100 mile high speed ride, my ears have been ringing ever since. Didn't realize it at the time but the wind vibrates the straps and destroys your hearing. I had no idea, no one ever told me. So I'm telling anyone who cares to listen. If they can hear me
I spent a fair amount of time trying to find a half helmet that was vented. Everything inside and above the headband on my previous half helmet would be wringing wet after a summer ride.
This vented “Rodia” helmet doesn’t “feel” any different when riding, but my head is not wet when I take off my helmet, and least the top of my head like it used to be.
You can see the small vents in front that open and close, and where the air exits on top. I think it was 75 bucks. Rodia is the brand. Not exceptional quality, but okay. The distributor shipped me a new in box helmet that was five years old.
I also wanted a sun visor. Never heard of this brand but they are the only vented half helmets I’ve seen. I’d like to know of other options if there are any, but I looked high and low.
Thanks, Jesus closing in on 100 posts about a freaking half a helmet question. Go figure, now if I asked about great ****, I can see it but helmets, really?

He did ask with specific reasons for asking and what he wasnt interested in hearing and it STILL went off the rails with self absorbed opinionated bullshit.
