I ordered a ProBeam tail light from Custom Dynamics to match the saddlebag insert lights from them. They have an unfortunate way of doing business where they allow you to place your order on the website with absolutely no indication that they don't actually have the item they are offering, they take the money out of your bank account and send you a confirmation email with an expected receive date. Sometime later they send another email (I mainly get spam so I don't check my email unless I'm expecting something) saying they don't actually have the item and they'll let you know when they get some later.
Shady to say the least. I asked them when they might be expecting a new shipment and they had no idea, so I had them return my money.
I don't see the need for dubious practices like that from an established brand. Just be honest from the start.
Has anyone found a decent LED tail light that looks reasonable with the Pro Beam inserts? Specifically a low profile or 'lay down' one in red that offers a 'No tag window' option, as not everyone does. I'm not a fan of the 4 LED look on the BAL lights. I haven't ruled out the CD ProBeam, but I'll spend those dollars elsewhere whenever possible from now on.
What is the Mail, Internet, or Telephone Order Rule?
The Rule requires that when you advertise merchandise, you must have a reasonable basis for stating or implying that you can ship within a certain time. If you make no shipment statement, you must have a reasonable basis for believing that you can ship within 30 days. That is why direct marketers sometimes call this the "30-day Rule."
If, after taking the customer’s order, you learn that you cannot ship within the time you stated or within 30 days, you must seek the customer’s consent to the delayed shipment. If you cannot obtain the customer’s consent to the delay -- either because it is not a situation in which you are permitted to treat the customer’s silence as consent and the customer has not expressly consented to the delay, or because the customer has expressly refused to consent -- you must, without being asked, promptly refund all the money the customer paid you for the unshipped merchandise.
In my case, J&S Jacks sent me a confirmation e-mail after I ordered a replacement bottle jack. which read: "Please allow up to 12-14 weeks for delivery". So, I guess they feel that line of text protects them from violating the 30-day FTC rule. Wish there was a rule on responding to customers inquiries, in a timely manner....LOL

I too emailed J&S several times and left a couple of voice mails the last 45 days. No response yet. I too would like a replacement bottle jack...and I took a peek at their current prices and holy moly, their prices on the bike lift has gone through the roof to say the least!

I replaced my tail light and all turns last year with the CD Pro-Beams with smoke lenses. I was lucky, as I talked to a salesperson and asked if they had what I needed in stock.
The red lenses are popular, so they may be on a slow boat from China. I don't know of another maker with the same look as the Pro-Beams.
I have the Custom Dynamics ProBeam on my 2021 FXLRS. No matter how irritated you might be at the situation, I'd suggest it's worth the wait. Not only is it bright as all get out, it will match what you already have and the upgrade path you've already started on.
But if you can't wait for it to be restocked, Bright *** Lights, Hogworkz, etc are alternatives.
i've encountered very few places where i wasn't charged up front for the part, in stock or not. couple hundred bucks for some lights i wouldn't worry about. how about $7,000 for a shed that took 6 weeks to get?

I don't have any issue with being charged up front. It's the deliberate withholding of information regarding backorders that I abhor. It's needless and deceptive. Custom Dynamics will get the money from this sale regardless as I'm already invested in the styling of their product on my bike.
@Redbeard719 I ended up ordering the ProBeam from Revzilla, who showed to have it in stock before I completed the purchase. Custom Dynamics confirmed the cancellation this morning via email and claim funds will be refunded this week.
