LED TSSM and brake lights
I thnk my TSSM has been failing for about 10 years or atleast has some kind of hiccup. It flashes 4-5 times on start up, I have no secruity. So thinking about replacing. If do that I am wondering if I should get TSSM for LEDs so I don't have to use resistors. Which one?? Are there different types? Package units?
I have not kept up with LEDs because I really wasn't worried about reducing draw on charging system. Not like paying for wattage, and I havn't really added alot.
I'd like to add more light in the back of my2001 FLHR. I do have the blinker brake light conversion. Are the LED brake lights brighter? Also not really sure where to start here..

The LED brake lights are much brighter than OEM, many have brightness levels you can select that are brighter than DOT standards.. My favorites are BAL-1 (bright *** lights) or Custom Dynamics..
You would significantly increase your visibility by changing to an LED brake light, and switching your turn signal bulbs to LED bulbs. You would need to add a load stabilizer (sometimes called an equalizer) to avoid hyperflash of the turn signals, but a load stabilizer is plug & play and an easy install.... There are several makers of the load stabilizers. Custom Dynamics has a good one, as is the Biketronics Smart Equalizer.
Just an FYI, to clear up some nomenclature... For your year Harley, they had two turn signal control modules. The TSM (Turn Signal Module) is for turn signals, with NO security. If you have security on your bike as an option, you will have a TSSM (Turn Signal Security Module). They are two different modules with two different installation protocols... Just off the top of my head, I believe the TSM can just be swapped out, while the TSSM has to go through a complicated procedure, dependent on year & whether you have an ICM or ECM, to marry it to the bike, ...
If you should decide to change out your module, I would suggest you do a good diagnosis first, to make sure the module is bad, then get the proper module for your application.
But if I am going to do it,could I get one that will prevent need for resistors.
As for tssm or tsm, I don't care. I got a parts manual.
A breakfast sandwich would be good if it had sausage and egg.
Some fresh brewed coffee also.
I have LED on my Sportster and Trike, helps maintain the battery so it lasts. You may get different results
