So viewing from up under you can see the forward end of the belt. It appears to be leaking from the engine in that area. If true, what's involved in fixing this leak?
The oil spot appears with the bike on the stand so the oil is running down.
Looks like the shift shaft seal, the shaft that goes into the trans. The inner primary case comes off for a $4.00 seal. A lot of seals in the primary. Good luck.

Had the seal replaced once by a dealer many years ago it was over $300.00, went by labor rates. Today's rate will be higher, find an indy and he should be able to fix you up.
I'm thinking about doing this job myself and was wondering if it takes any VERY special tools? I do have a manual so I'll read about it. Any areas of concern? Also, maybe I should replace the BELT as well since it is the original. Bike has over 80k miles.

Simple process. Biggest challenge IMO is removing the compensator.
