I did mine just shy of 50k, and it was pretty dirty. Here's a recent thread about fuel filters - https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...el-filter.html

I hope you realize the dealer either lied to you, or they cannot properly perform a simple vehicle service....

If you can't do the work yourself, you should find another dealer to do your work... Hopefully there is an honest and competent one nearby.....

. [/color]Also going to order the tool and bushings to fix the rattling shifter I have. Any recommendations for a good fuel injector cleaner I can add to the tank vs removing them and sending them out? Bike is an 18 Ultra Limited with 297xx miles on it.
What tool do you need? Are you replaceing lever at front of primary or inside on tranny? My tranny one wiggles a little so I replaced when I had primary off.

Not saying it is right, but I never worried about cleaning fuel injectors. I do add seafoam every fall. So I figure that half *** does it over winter.

yea I don’t think they did all of what they said. I have the extra warranty in case it goes **** up. I’ve been turning wrenches past 40years. Just never worked in a Harley.

I think it’s called the Jim’s tool? It’s for the front bushings.

You mean the bushing in the primary cover? My body did mine, when I wasn't there. I was using his table lift. No special tool. I can't remember if he just pressed it out, or if he dremmeled something. I

Is this something you could press out with a threaded rod? I remember him telling me what he did.

Yes the one in the front of the cover. I’ve seen some home made versions using threaded rod and washers to pull it back in. Was about to order my table but have to go out of town again and don’t want it delivered when I’m gone.

The Jim's Tool you are thinking about I believe is #5518...

https://www.denniskirk.com/jims/shif...prd/284319.sku

It has gone up in price, but was never cheap...

I bought one and thought it was worth it, but I like tools...

I've changed the shift pedal bushings on three bikes. The first time I used a generic bushing driver for old bushing removal. It didn't fit perfect and was not as easy as it should have been. I then installed the new bushings with a screw, a few washers and nuts.... that was also kind of a pain... But it was cheap and I got it done...

Then I bought the Jim's tool.... It is soo much easier with the tool... It truly made it a 15 minute job, including the clean up...

I thought it was well worth the money, even if I never use it again... but I like tools..

You don't need the tool. Find a socket or something that'll fit, they come out super easy. I found that a 3/8" ratchet extension turned backwards worked perfectly for me. Used a long bolt and nut with some washers to pull the new ones in. I put a couple of O-rings, a wave spring and a grease fitting in mine while I was in there. The wave spring pushes the rubber bushing against the outer O-ring and keeps a little tension on the inner one to keep grease in and water out.

I like the kayaks, and the bike matches them for color as well!

As for fuel injector cleaner, Techron is the best out there. Get the Techron Complete Fuel System Cleaner.
