Default Morning HD Family, Road Glide Question

Good morning. My name is Mike, been a HD owner for over 10yrs. Drove to Sturgis a few times and enjoy my "road therapy" when I get it.

I’ve had a Road King Classic for 10yrs. Added a bat wing fairing about 6yrs ago. Considering making the switch to a Raod Glide but concerned about lights at night in the turns/corners. As I approach 50yrs of age, I'm finding my night vision isn't what it used to be. Any issues with the visibility on Road Glides at night with visibility/lighting in the turns with the fixed fairing??

thanks in advance

Not an issue. Same as a car or a Gold Wing.
The 2015 and after RGs come with great headlights.
Of course you can add driving lights if you feel the need.

I’ll start by saying I don’t have any first hand riding experience on a road glide. But do you have problems seeing around corners with the headlights in a normal 4 wheeled vehicle? I know some fancy vehicles now have adaptive headlights, but I’ve never had an issue with seeing around a corner on a bike or in a vehicle with normal headlights. And really you don’t turn the bars enough to see around a corner at speed on a fork mounted fairing/headlight bike anyway. I don’t think you would on a road glide. And if you really did have a problem with it, some engine guard mounted auxiliary lights pointing outward some would solve the issue IMO. Of the folks I’ve talked to that ride road glides it’s not an issue.

Not to make a snarky response, two wheels is more unnerving at times at night without the security of the car surrounding me. I tend to avoid night riding, but sometimes unavoidable. Been on dark country roads, and death perception in turns is problematic. I think added LED lights on forks would help. Thx for input

I put these on my engine guards, you know people see you with these on. Cages hold off pulling out of side streets for sure. Well worth the money and easy install. Here's a link. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...-lights-4.html

I've ridden faired and non-faired bikes over the years, and the only difference for lighting is at parking lot speeds when the handlebars are actually turned. But, those are usually done in lighted areas, so it was never a real concern. At any road speed, there was never an appreciable difference as others have mentioned, at least in my opinion. Switching shouldn't be a concern.

Be sure to make your next new post over in the New Member area.

Just in case...
Welcome from North Beach, FL., USA!

Just in case you have not done this and I recommend this only as a suggestion....

Add a Signature Line in your USER set up for your bike year, model, and all the letters that Harley recognizes it with.
Others will see it at the bottom which enables them to know your exact model if you ever ask a question.
All Harleys are not the same and year and all the model letters make a big difference.

Also, add an Avatar of your favorite shot in the USER setup for the small picture others will see in the top left corner of your post.

It's also very helpful to read the 'HDF Site Rules' listed at the top of the new member Welcome area.
