I have a hw tour pack. I have pretty much the same experience as outlined by the guys with advant black. Latches and hinges are not oem quality, but it works. Drives me nuts that they use metric hardware to put it all together. If I were to do it again I think I'd buy HD.

Thank you for the information, very helpful.

I think I will go with HD tour pak. I had it on Surdyke wishlist last year but never put the trigger. I should have bought it last year.

HD luggage is not superior to just aftermarket but also to all other motorcycles such as Indian and Honda. If you want the best for your ride stick with Harley. Or save a few hundies and always be wondering.

My neighbor has a 2014 RK and he added HD tour pak when he bought the bike. He told me several times that the tour pak has rattles, he just couldn't stand it.
The mounting points on the OEM docking hardware are oblong (not sure about the knockoff ones) and rotating them to a different position usually solves any rattling issues.

By the way I bought OEM tourpak to be sure of a perfect color match and don't regret it.

Nice to know I'm not the only one. The Hogworx (and I suspect Advanblack) appear to come out the same molds at one of the ones I tried off amazon.

I ordered the TCMT King Pak and it was horrible. I mean the plastic and paint seemed fine, the the hardware. OMG, total junk. The main problem, among a long list of others, was that he lid would not stay latched. No matter what, it would come open just riding down the road. I could open it with a light shake of the lid in the garage. I then ordered one from Hogworx and was very nice. Good paint, good hardware. Not bad but for the $910 cost and the 8 weeks it took to be delivered. But, they had some kind of quality escape with their backrest which would not fit. I was pissed, but they took great of me and immediately took it back with no issues. At this point I was done hunting and ordered a color-matched HD trunk. I got it in a week and it was utterly perfect. All in I spent about $1300 with a backrest.

Sometimes it just isn't worth the hassle trying to save a few dollars.

PS - Those lowers on the other hand cost $100 on Amazon and work great. Go figure. Love the look of the RK configured this way.

I have TCMT lowers on my RK and they work perfectly, no any issue with them.

It will cost me about $1,450 (chopped TP, pad, and rack, shipping and tax included) if I order them from Utah HD or $1,422 plus tax if I order them from local dealer. May not need the rack as my friend gave me one from Amazon. Will see.

Does HD TP come with the base plate?

When I bought my 2019 FLHTP, I tried to do without a tourpak. But I could not.

So I started shopping and reading reviews. Found a couple local fellows with the advan tourpaks. I heard things like "almost as good", and "works well enough". But mostly the common phrase was "I saved $200-300".

Having just spent $19,000 on a bike, saving a couple hundred seemed silly. I went with The Harley tourpak. It is sturdier than the aftermarket, and I am confident using the luggage rack on top also.

On the lowers, the one thing I simply could not do was use the lower loop clamps they provide which are absurdly small. I just ordered a pair from HD for like $15 bucks for the pair. Yes, I know I could have just found one somewhere, but I was DONE searching at this point.

Yes, the HD one comes with what would be more accurately called armor plating. Nice this is the threaded studs are welded in so I only have to use on ratchet for the bolts from below. I'm convinced that the plate itself is one reason it was so much more rigid.
