It depends on color I think. The base tour pack was about a grand (with the mounting hardware but no liner). Add to that the cost of the back rest - here I think Amazon units are just find, I wanted something with the Harley branding.
Top tip- After installing mine on the HD removable mount ( I used the full wrap around HD passenger backrest ) , I found that I could use a little more room for my wife and I so I got the Karyaken ( whatever the hell the brands called) relocation kit and moved the pack back about 4 inches. It was perfect then.
I doubt the tour paks from Advanblack and Hogworkz may be produced at the same factory as other Chinese ones.
i don't. i can say from experience that the amazon/tcmt lowers that i got for less than $100 were exactly the same as the more expensive color matched ones that i got from advanblack for the wife's bike. i can't say about the tour packs, but i would not be surprised if they were the same.
i've always gone with the oem tour packs since i've had to get color matched and buying them from a discounter made the price difference negligible. but since hd has discontinued online discounts, there is a greater gap in the price difference. if i needed vivid black though, i think i would go with the tcmt one off amazon for a couple hundred bucks, and upgrade the hardware with oem hardware. for the couple of times a year that i used the tour pack, that would suffice for me. now, if it was to be kept on the bike most of the time, i would probably suck it up and go oem.
there's nothing that says that you can't save a few bucks by buying some knock off stuff combined with oem too. my docking hardware is knockoff, with oem bushings. the mounting rack is knock off, my tour pack and backrest are oem. on my tcmt lowers, i use hd hardware, with hd glove boxes and they are virtually indistinguishable from oem. i didn't do it to try to fool anyone, i just don't care for the rough texture of the knockoff lowers vs the rubberized feel of oem.
I already had H-D docking hardware on my bike. When I decided to add the tour pack for when my wife joins me I bought an H-D tour pack mount and then an Advanblack King tour pack w/ luggage rack. We're very happy with this combination.
I have TCMT lowers on my RK and they work perfectly, no any issue with them.
It will cost me about $1,450 (chopped TP, pad, and rack, shipping and tax included) if I order them from Utah HD or $1,422 plus tax if I order them from local dealer. May not need the rack as my friend gave me one from Amazon. Will see.
Does HD TP come with the base plate?
I see you mentioned the chopped tourpak. I urge you to reconsider. While those look "cooler" than the full sized ones, they are nowhere near as useful.
I've seen many posts on here from folks who bought the chopped pack and wish they'd gone for the bigger one.

You are absolutely right. I just went to the dealer this morning and looked the tour pak on the Ultra. They looked much better than I thought.
Pretty sure the King comes with the base plate. The chopped does not. You can put 2 FF helmets inside the king TP, not the chopped. If you do get the chopped, I suggest getting the base plate anyway, especially if using in a solo position.
what color do you need? black? then you can get a good deal from amazon. same as advanblack or hogworkz. do you need color matched? then i would recommend oem. there is not enough of a price savings to go with the reduced quality of the cheap chinese ones (which other than oem, they all are). my opinion only. ymmv.
You do know paint shops can buy OEM paints, directly from HD? I'm sure this is exactly what the aftermarket vendors like AdvanBlack do, and any difference in outcome is due to workmanship. I'm also confident they paint onshore due to their turnaround times, while the moulded shells may well come from China by container and are warehoused here.
