Thanks! It’s a 2021 RGS that I had painted for a transition theme I wanted.

The paint quality from Hogworks SUCKS. I will never spend another dollar with them.

We waited the 8 weeks they said it would take and they shipped as promised. I put it all together and at first glance was happy. Then I started seeing these little bubbles in the paint. I say bubbles but more like a little pin sized spot where the paint didn’t fill in for lack of better terms.

I called them and they paid the shipping back. I waited about three to four weeks and here she comes back.

What I noticed first was when we got it the first time you could smell the fresh paint. There was no paint smell the second time. I noticed that all the same spots I had taken pictures of were still there. It was very clear to me that they did NOTHING. I called and asked what they had done and the reply was they repainted the top. I called BS, there was no way it was repainted. There was also a run on the top and it was still there.

He told me that apparently my paint standards and theirs are not the same. Well that is a true story. The sad part is they are in the paint business, or I thought they were.

Here’s the rub. We wanted to ride the SG on a trip we had planned and we waited and waited for this tour pak. At the same time our CVO was down with engine failure. My wife said she could live with it and let’s just keep it. I hated to do that but we did and HW gave us a whopping $100.00 credit.

They SUCK, don’t walk away, run like hell.

I have shown this to a dozen people. I ask them to look at the stock Harley front fairing, my, Advan Black bag lids and the tour pack. I ask them to tell me which one has a paint issue. It has been 100% instantly that it is the Hogworks tour pack. The Advanblack bag lids are slick as glass, as is all the HD paint.

I had one guy tell me he paid for and waited 12 weeks for a tour pack from HW. He finally called them and their reply was they just have not painted his color recently. He asked for a refund and said it took a while to get it.

If you want my best advice, buy a new Harley tour pack. You will be much happier in the long run.

I’ve ordered two tour paks from HD in one year, both in “one year only custom colors”. Granted, they were the current years. 2020, and 2022. The 2020 shipped in two weeks, and the 2022 shipped in 11 days (today).

I’m not going to wait for weeks, for inferior paint, to save a few benjamins.

I remember I saw your post regarding the bubbles in the paint for your tour pack. So glad you guys provide great information here. Yes, I will go with Harley tour pack for sure.

I don’t think you will regret that. I sure haven’t.

I am also considering getting a Tour Pack. Originally I was going to go with Amazon ones, but then, I figured might as well get something better. I looked at AB and HW, but in reality, HD is not much more.

I ordered stuff from HW before. It was my dock kit, which after 2 years, has some pits in it. Also, couple mount point bolts are rusting. I also purchased passenger short back rest. So far that is working out and no issues there.

I think I will bit the bullet and go with HD. The only thing I need to figure out if I want to go 2 up or solo.

As someone who is a solo rider exclusively, and still analyzed it to death, go with the two up set up.

I did the solo set up on my last bike, including tour pak relocation kit to move it back a smidge so it wasn’t right on top of me.

The thing I never thought about was the lost storage space on a pillion. A nice sized travel pack can fit on there.

My thinking is that I could get forward kit and use TP as a backrest, eliminating the need to purchase dedicated backrest. But then, having dedicated backrest would come in handy too! I also ride solo most of the time. Maybe 2-3 times a year, my wife hops on and we go for a ride to get something to eat. 2-up would make better backrest for her.

Decisions decisions....

Good point on the pillion storage. I thought about it. I have a nice Saddleman 3400 series bag, but think that TP would be more secure for longer trips. I tend to be little paranoid with bag strapped to my bike.

Man, I went through ALL of this, too. It's tough deciding, and there are so many factors to consider. I finally chose the RikRack bag. My wife can use the detachable backrest for the 1-2 times she wants to go for a ride each season. If she rode more, the TourPak would be the no brainer for me. It still may, if she decides to go more.
