I had hogworkz tourpack on my 17 road glide chrome, the hinges started rusting within 6 months and the teather broke same time period, yes I do ride in the rain. I sold it with the bike and probably go OEM on my 22 if I decide to get another tourpack.
You do know paint shops can buy OEM paints, directly from HD? I'm sure this is exactly what the aftermarket vendors like AdvanBlack do, and any difference in outcome is due to workmanship. I'm also confident they paint onshore due to their turnaround times, while the moulded shells may well come from China by container and are warehoused here.
you seem to have totally misunderstood what i was saying. you can buy the vivid black tcmt tour packs off of amazon for $200+. which is a huge difference from oem. but, if you want a color, then the difference between advanblack/hogworkz,et al. and oem narrows significantly. to the point where, for the minimal cost savings over oem, it just isn't worth it. imo.

-I just priced a ABlack through Fbook message and for a Amber Whiskey chopped TPack was $938.00 shipped w/hardware to mount etc.
-A Razor TPack is $50.00 less he said.
-He said he like the payment in Venmo or cash app, says PPal takes to much from them.
-Not sure I want to fork over 900 clams off Fbook even though it is a ABlack page and he says he is a dealer so I'm investigating that part.
-On the ABlack's web site $1080.00/color Chopped.
-OEM Amber Whiskey is $1,900.00 + pad + TP mount.
-For as little as I will use it, seems I can get some paint (from??) and do it my self, but we all know, once we get things (contents/ winter) added to the TP, well, she might be on there for a while.

PayPal has buyer protections. The others do not and are like paying cash. Beware.

that price seems kinda high, that's more than i paid for my cvo tour pack. so i went to the hd site to check on the pricing. the apex special paint is $1907. seems that amber whiskey is not available any longer, but a vivid black tour pack is $1066.95. surdyke has an unpainted, primed tour pack priced at $800.80.

Yes, the price is high. I went on HD and found the Vivid Black, then added color (drop down box) and they gave me that price. !!!!
Appreciate the information and lead.
Might just get a HD Vivid Black and run with it ???/hard decision.
To get one painted around here might be more if I buy one primed, then find a painter.
Decisions.
Thank you again for your help, new to the RGS (Since May).

I just went through this process myself. I ended up going the OEM route and am very happy. Should be dropping a video on it next week and talking about why I went OEM over Advanblack (hint quality).
