(psssst before the CVO police turn up AGAIN) ...interesting discovery about those emblems this weekend.
I found out that the OEM ones are made up of three parts: a soft black backing plate, coloured sandwich and black facia. While cleaning I noticed the bottom of my left one was coming away, so figured better to remove and re-tape before I lost it.
When I originally purchased them from an unscrupulous online supplier, the expiry date on the OEM tape was well past its sell-by. So I replaced the backing tape on both sides. Seems I need to keep an eye on the remaining black facia tape also

didn’t try, I did paint them black. Wasn’t gonna pay the Harley-tax of around Ł120 for a black set.
The photo is a bit reflective, they look much better in RL. Used a paint brush and some gloss black.

Just cleaned them up with alcohol pad and used rattle can. I did probably 4 coats.

I would gladly pay but the reviews are rather bad.
Do not waste your money on HD ones. They are stupid expensive. I sprayed mine with gloss black paint and they look great.. for 3 bucks. It's crazy that HD wants over 200 bucks (last time I checked) for piece of plastic flimsy rings.
