Does anyone just sell the correct 25mm install tool?
I see Jim's has one but it is the same one that is in my George's set.
Any of these kits have an installer that pushes the bearing in far enough but not too far? If I remember correctly, the shop manual shows a driver with a shoulder on it that keeps the bearing from going in too far.
... pushes the bearing in far enough but not too far?
That is accomplished by the combination of the bottom of the bearing bore on one side, the center spacer sleeve to stop bearing on the other, and either a good installation tool that pushes on the outer and inner race simultaneously or know the "work around" when using a not-so-good tool.
EDIT: forgot to address the factory tool "driver". The HD Kent -Moore tool has NO shoulders/ridges on it's "driver". Completely flat across the surface. George's achieves effectively the same thing with the 2 raised ridges.

I have a wheel bearing tool that was like the pit posy, ate a couple wheel bearings in about 4000 miles. Ended up reversing dies for the final press. That corrected the bearing life.
While the stock bearing with C3 clearance has about 0.005" axial play, the bearing dies with a outside ridge that high between the inside and outside stress the bearing axially and kill it. The installer set I have was 0.025" I got tired of turning the dies around and machined them flat. No issues since.
Circling back a year later to thank you for the tip and info. A little lathe time, and all fixed up ---

George's has the 25mm set by itself but is currently out of stock. https://www.georges-garage.com/produ...r-shaft-pilot/

I called them once because I was having an issue with one of their tools.
The guy I talked with was very knowledgeable. We were on the phone for about 20 minutes, both with dial calipers in hand making measurements. He finally figured out what I was doing wrong (yep, operator error, go figure).
Excellent customer service...

The reason i replace my own bearings is to make sure it's done correctly. I wouldn't let someone else do this even it was free.
I have already had the dealer fkup installation once when it was under warranty..
I too will be replacing front and rear wheel bearings on my 2020 RG Ltd during this current tire replacement. Will use bearings from the dealer or from All *****.
I need a good quality bearing puller. I really dont want to purchase one and use it once then set on the shelf for years. Im in search of someone that would be willing to let me rent / borrow their quality bearing puller. Goes without saying; shipping will be on me and I can send a deposit.
