OK, I just lost all control of my thread here and my brain blew up trying to decipher what you 2 are saying

Now, what I got was I have to test this CB unit before I use it with some sort of dohickey I might be able to get at the Shack? Or can I just buy all the right parts, install it and use it?? Remember now, I might be an above average wrench on the mechanical side, but me and electronics just do NOT get along.
Just install it and use it. We were discussing testing it prior to having all the parts and alternate ways of mounting the antenna and its cable.

OK, whew, you guys had me worried that I would have to invite my buddy David over, he's an electrical engineer and I have him help whenever I work on electrical stuff on my bikes. It's easier to ask him for help, than to try and explain the fire to the insurance comp.

Just a thought. If you wanted and alternative to getting a new dash console to be able to fit the headset recepticle, then would buying the recepticle, wires, and weather cover and mounting them in the top of a side frame cover be an option. I think it would be roughly the same distance from the helmet as the console, and you could extended the wires from the recepticle to the cb unit if required. Just curious.

Yes, I thought about the location on the fairing, but was worried about drilling a 11/16 hole into a custom paint job, so bought the console hook up stuff. Also in reply to checking the installation of complete unit with antenna. It is a good idea at some point to have the SWR checked, prolonged transmitting at a SWR over 3:1 will damage your radio. A meter to check this is very cheap from radio shack or I'm sure your local Harley dealer will check and adjust it for you. I would help talk you through it by internet or phone if you elect to do it yourself. The term SWR refers to the antenna reflecting the power your radio generates as opposed to feeding back into the radio, like a dog chasing its tail. Just an opinion for whats it worth.

current e-bay item 260161714780 is the choice I made for my road glide cb console. Peel off the old cover and attach this with 3 screws, of course you will need the harness and weather cover. I have 07 road glide, not sure which other models it works for.

OK, cb module installed, ran RG 58 to the back for the bike for the antenna, TNC connector on the end for the module. Made a harness extenstion for the cb console and installed the console with plug and weather cap. I have an internal AM/FM antenna and with that additional harness required for the CB, things are tight. Most time consuming process, putting the fairing back on. If I did it again I would take pictures of all wires just after removing the fairing so I could position all wires back in original spot. Next to attack the antenna installation, mount to the frame not tour pak. All hand control switches function as advertised. I mated the extenstion harnessand the console plug on the left side behind the pop-off cover. Ran the wires (RG58 and extenstion) under the console. Have a few pics.

Wow Chan! What an awesome looking ride. You must be really proud bud. Looking forward to the completion of this project. I'm especially interested in whether you can turn the speakers off and listen to tunes and such through the headsets.

Keep us posted, and ride safe.

Here is what I did in the late 70's. Lots of good advice on this thread. I think HD puts out an antenna mount for the Road King that would work on the RG, just need a good CB whip for it.

BTW, I think the connector at the rear of my 02 Radio Sound was a PL259 for the CB. Haven't checked the 07 yet.

The connector on the 07 radio is TNC.
