Default Scanners?

What got me thinking about scanners was ABS brake fluid changes. See Twin Te Twin Scan 4 around $600. Clears codes and monitors. But are there any tuners that would do this too? Or is there another brand better price? Do they mate to the bike?

Opinions?

I have been looking for one too and don’t want spend $600 for a scanner. There is this one, ITM HD1, for under $200 that only does the ABS flush:

User Review of the ITM HD1 ABS Bleeding tool

I also remember Vance and Hines floated that they were going to add the ABS flush feature to the FP3 tuner. They said it was ready to go a few years ago but never released the feature, pressure from the Motor company I bet.

I jsut want to make sure I get the bang for the buck. $200 is easy to swallow. Oddly enough I am not sure if I am going to upgrade this bike. I hate to say it, a little embarrassed even, but I might leave the stock exhaust on, I like listening to the radio.

But trying to spend the money once.

Also do they mate? Always pissed me off spending so much money on a tool that mates. One of reps said well then you would tune your buddies bike. Ya but I spent $500 for it, years ago, I should be able to use it on all my bikes.

Other concern is I got window 11 on computer. Does that really matter?

The $179 version is locked to one VIN, $500 for a “shop” version that can do as many bikes as you want. They also make a 6 pin version. I was always worried about these guys being around for the long term. Then again it’s cheap enough you break even with one flush.

I have the Daytona Twin Tec, Twin Scan 4. When I bought it, it was only about $450.. I went with the Daytona Twin Tec, Twin Scan 4, because it doesn't mate to the bike, and does more than just activate the ABS for fluid flushes.. The ITM tool was a one trick pony that marries to a single ECM. At the time, they didn't offer the shop model, but for the cost of the shop model, I'd still get the Twin Scan 4....

The Twin Scan 4 will also add/remove security FOBs, add/change the security code, or even disable the hands free security system altogether. It does a couple other things too, but I haven't tried them. You can spend more money to get tuning hardware that will work with it, but I believe the tuning stuff locks to an ECM.

I have a PowewrVision tuner for my bikes so I already have that part covered..

Good luck with your decision..

Its tought for $180, if you have to buy something else later, its not that big of deal. I don't like wasting 180, but I have. I don't buy bikes often. Kinda cool to be able to activate fobs, I went through that with a sled. With my sled you had to bring the sled to the dealer, PIA.

While I think it is cool to monitor everything, I am not sure how much I would.

I don't have a tuner yet, and may or may not get one, but somethign to think about. But as I think it over, I still need to flush brakes.

I'd just get the 180, and worry about what versioon is being used when I buy the next bike. Which for me is not soon. Also for $180, its not worth parterning up with someone to get the shop version

http://infotechmercenary.com/product/315/

For $180 I am tempted to get it because I have trouble making my mind up and over researching. This is something I should probably think about doing.

I am leaning that way. Simpoly because for me it's easier to convinve myself to spend $180. And if someday I buy something else someday I am only out $180. I don't want to sound snooty about $180 though.

It comes with a clone? So you don't need a computer or smart phone?
