I say no, but it's so darn close. I'm comparing my V&H Big Shot Duals to my buddy's Rineharts, however - I've got an 01 RK, and he's got an 07 SG - so the size difference in the engine - as well as a few other things, are probably responsible for the difference in sound.
On some days, it sounds like my bike is louder - and on other day's, it sounds like his is louder. They both sound really good either way, but I believe I paida bit less in cost than he did.
Oh - one other thing:The Rineharts aren't a single piece per cylinder, but two pieces - the header and then the actual muffler part. I've heard of some with these pipes complain that after putting the muffler onto the header - the exhaust tips aren't even. My buddy was actually sent out a new piece of pipe from Rinehart to correct it. He's also had exhaust leaks where the header & muffler join together. I've also read about people's tips going from black to red on the Rineharts as well, even though my friends hasn't yet.
In contrast, the V&H are a single smooth pipe from the exhaust port all the way to the tip...simple & smoothe.
Oh - to make sure I understand correctly - are you going to put quiet baffles into the V&H pipes? I wouldn't. The thing I like about these pipes is that they can be loud or quiet at will - all depends on how you're riding and/or twisting the throttle. Putting in a quiet baffle defeats the purpose of changing from stock HD pipes IMO (unless you're talking about changing pipes out for pure performance, ie drag pipes, etc)
Yeah, definitely agree that V&H have a better look. Don't like that pipe/muffler look when spending that kind of money on pipes. V&H are much cheaper too. I know tons of people that have them and love them. Not sure that this answers your question, but it gets my post count up! JK... go with V&H. Plus, everyone seems to have the RH now.
I have the Rineharts and like them over the V/H set.
They have changed the tip powder coating tostop the tips from turning/discoloring. 700 bucks shipped was a good price for me. I think they sound better than the V/H set too.Just my.02
The V&H with the quiet baffles are still pretty darn loud. They have a much deeper sound than with the normal baffles and they create a little more backpressure which equals more low end torque,I definitely did notice it in the seat of the pants! Never really heard the RH true duals yet. But i've heard they sound good. But i'm very partial to V&H pipes anyways. Always been perfect fit and finish, unlike that of rineharts.
