Default Can't Remove License Plate
I have an 07 Ultra and need to remove the license plate so I can install a vanity plate. I keep turning the bolt but it doesn't come out. I can barely feel behind the plate and it seems like there is a nut back there. I don't seem to be able to get a crescent wrench in there to hold the nut. I tried to remove the bracket from the tour pack but the nut turns and doesn't back out.

What's the trick here?

take your saddle bag off, get the right size bow end wrench, no problem.

so easy a cave man could do it!

I was able to slip a 7/16" flat wrench behind the left side. However, I find that there is some sort of electrical cable up behind the right side. So the bag has to come off? The bag doesn't seem to be blocking me.

Obviously you do NOT have a mechanical aptitude,
and you should NOT possess any type of tool.
Save yourself some grief and have your wife do it.

If you are using a cresent wrench, you shouldn't work on your bike.

It's all I had within reach at the time. I wasn't expecting that such a simple job would require a real wrench. I'm using a open/box end now.

Just glue the new one over the top of the old one, or put a side mount on, and just spray paint over the old plate...[:'(]
