Question Ultra Limited Engine light 'on'

I have a new 2023 Ultra Limited Anniversary Edition, it has less than 400 miles on it. It sat outside in an enclosed trailer for a week of below freezing temperatures.
When I went to start it turned it didn't fire up. So, I removed the battery and placed it on a charger, re-installed it and it fired right up.
But....
The "Engine" light would not go 'out'.
All I dis-connected was the battery and the ECM ...
Everything went back in and connected fine.
I've done this many times with past Ultras and never had this issue.
Any idea why this may be happening ?

Did you pull the codes? I had to change the battery on my son's 2020 sportster, I had to go in and clear the codes, he was getting ecm and bcm lost communications.

Press and hold the trigger button (switch modes on the speedometer) and turn on ignition. Once speedo and tach do their sweep you should see "Diag" on speedometer. Now pushing trigger button will get you cycling through different modules; like "ECM Y" or "BCM N" the last letter indicates whether this module has diagnostic code stored.
If you see module with 'Y' press and hold trigger button and you can then go through list of diagnostic codes.
Codes ending with 'h' are historic, with 'c' are current. You can press and hold trigger button to reset codes for specific modules. My guess is you have "Loss of power" related codes.

In the future, there would be no need to remove the battery to charge it. The bike should have come with a battery tender pigtail from the factory.

2014. Pigtail is under the left side cover from the factory. It's part of the bikes wiring harness

Congratulatons on your first post to HDF, to the Forum.

Most likely you have codes pertaining to the dead battery and maybe the security system with loss of communication.

Did you put the bike in transport mode when transporting on/in the trailer? Security system will wear down the battery when transporting if you don't.

As above, access the codes, write them down or take phone pics, then clear them and see if they come back.

NOTE:
The above information, while credible, is worth what you paid for it and should not be considered gospel.
Do due diligence, research and have a H-D Field Service Manual before working on your bike.
You will probably have many opinions and suggestions presented; make sure you research the person providing the helpful information as there are some who provide good information and some who speak out of other orifices with gibberish. You will figure out this quickly.

I would have removed the battery to charge it too. Using a tender, if it worked, would take a while. A good charger can recover a dead battery in a couple hours.

There's actually a procedure for removing the battery.

Turn ignition on
remove maxi fuse
dance on your left foot in a clockwise direction, unless you in Australia, then it's counter clockwise on your right foot.
Remove battery

turn ignition switch to off

install new battery and replace fuse.
