Default Windshield insert

I was giving my 2013 Electraglide its annual going over prior to riding season and noticed one of the windshield screws was loose. Turns out the brass insert in the inner fairing that accepts the screw had pulled out. My immediate thought was to just glue it back in and carry on. But my ideas aren't always right. I know enuf to be dangerous. What do you all think? Thanks for any advice.

JB Weld will work or you can get a repair kit. Check to make sure there are no cracks around where the brass insert goes, if there are you need to put some JB Weld around the area.

Get the JB Weld for Plastic or use other plastic epoxy such as Permatex plastic welder.

If it were my bike, I would JB weld it. Many here have. It's not stressed part, so I can't imagine it wouldn't hold for, well, forever.

I had a loose Inner faring brass fitting but I took a different path.
I pushed the fitting back in place, I used a long chrome screw (about 3 inches) that I screwed into the fitting. Here is the important part, I held the screw in place with some pliers, I used a torch to heat up the head of the screw and watched the screw as the head traveled down the shank to the brass fitting. You can actually see the screw change color as the heat travels down the shaft.
Once the heat gets to the insert you will see the plastic melt and well up a bit. Remove the head and do not move the pliers until the plastic cools.
It sounds crazy but it worked very well, you just need a steady hand.
If I had some ABS glue I'd have tried that first. but hey, I needed to get it done.

Buy the Amazon insert repair. You can find the kit for under 30 bucks, its a 5 minute repair and is 10X stronger than the original.
