I always stay at the A Holiday Motel on the main drag. Motorcycle friendly, rooms are clean, etc. I haven't been there in about 3 years, but I'm going back in June this year. Re Wheels Through Time...I gave something to the museum about 10 years ago, and as far as I know it's still there. It is the Amazing Custom Motorcycle Waving Arm. The people who run the place say it gets moved around all the time. It will be very low on your "to see" list, though. Too much cool stuff in there.

If you like motorcycles and their history the Wheels Through Time museum is a great place to visit.
I enjoyed it.
Got to visit one time and Dale was around and he road about inside in some smaller two wheeler with a big smile and later gave us a bottle of water as we departed.
Unfortunately he has passed.
The museum was a nice relaxed visit.
Everybody is different but a 2 hour walk about is enough for me at a museum.
Regarding areas and riding.
Several threads available on this forum if you search Maggie valley, Dragon, Cherohala, Moonshiner 28, Fontana Dam, Bryson City(road to nowhere), Foothills parkway (via duct) or Blue ridge Parkway( BRP).
One spot that is often missed is Water Rock **** on the BRP. It is on the BRP and very close to Maggie Valley.
Take a sandwich from town and ride up the mountain to eat it at Water Rock ****. No food sold at water Rock **** so take your own. Very nice view on a clear day.
Also keep in mind that in the mountains....towns go to sleep once it gets dark so most riding is done just before dark.

I've been to Bryson City via more different routes than you would imagine back when Cherokee was dry
