Hi all, A buddy of mine trailered his bike over to my place. It's a 2007 flhx(street glide) he said it made it made a banging noise and he took it right back home(only a block away). I pulled off the primary cover and found the comp sprocket was in 2 pieces. The cup that the comp spring pack sits in, is attached to the stator rotor. The cup is what broke. Any one see this before?
They are known to be a problem. That said I suspect it is riding style, I got 75k on mine, but ride like a wuss.
Cuious what direction he goes for fix. You got to epoxy pieces on for Harleys fix. Manowar has one, but has to be rebuilt 30-40k which is annoying. But maybe only for hard riders? There are threads with people with conflicting opinions.

They break sometimes. Your direct replacement is HD #40100061 Screamin' Eagle Big Twin Compensator. This comes with a 2008 up 30041-08A alternator rotor.
I called the Harley stealer and the want 459.00 for the comp. I asked if that came with the alt rotor and he said they have to order it. I went on Harleys website and it said it comes with rotor. What a knucklehead. I guess he wanted an extra 250 bucks.
Rounders, I'm not sure which direction he's gonna go either. I've never seen one come apart the way that did.
Ohio HD, thanks for the part numbers.
I was trying to figure out rotor thing. Some of the descriptions say need a new rotor I thought. Last time primary was off I considered. Around $300ish then. But then I thought you needed a rotor$$
Is your buddy a hard rider? I like to cruise fast, but I am wuss at taking off. LIke to hit the on ramp fast, but I am no good at holeshots.

Yeah that part number 40100061 comes with the rotor. Everything shown here comes with the kit, as well as two plastic scoops, which one of will get epoxied to the inner primary cover to direct oil to the compensator.
