Me neither, put one on my 09 also .

Stuff never goes wrong to home ... and at 11 at night, the only jumper cables anyone has are heavy stuff for cars and trucks

I have seen some jump starters causing problems. I can't say that I'm certain a jump *pack* would or could do the same.

Bear with me for a moment.

Old jump starters that you plugged into the wall, particularly those of the cheap variety, made up for amperage with higher voltage. My old Craftsman unit on jump start was pumping out something like 24-28 volts as I recall. My old 12 volt tractors and such really didn't care about that high voltage from the charger. But some of my more modern equipment did. Smoked the entire dashboard of one of my Saabs with it, as well a number of bulbs and such in some other vehicles.

So yea, I could see how an over-voltaged charger/jumper/booster could cause damage to components.

I was told when I bought this bike in 1989 to never jump it from a running car so this is not a new thing. I have a direct connection to my battery for use when the sidecar is attached. There is a car battery in the trunk of the sidecar so I disconnect the onboard battery when connected. I am part way thru the second year with my NOCO lithium battery. I also carry a jump pac which I used at first with the AGM HD battery to boost the start and now it comes in useful to reset the NOCO if the BMS decides it doesn't like the surge if I bump the starter twice in a split second or so and disconnects the juice. The plug is good for 120amps I think the last time I checked starting current it was around 80 amps. that dam 1989 starter

I'd be inclined to believe them about it, all except the INVESTMENT part, it's just a purchase, NOT an investment, actually it's a financial drain to the max!

I've used a Li-ion jump pack a bunch on mine, at some point every year when it's below 20°F out the battery will fail to start the bike at work. When it gets down to those temps, I start to carry a jump pack in my lunch bag so it stays warm. I hook it to the starter stud and a metal part or bolt and wait 30 seconds, then fire her up.

Granted this is on an old 2014, but it's still CanBus.
