Well, I have the original 1st off the line double decker memory foam by Allen, (mean city cycles) on my 07 UC, and it is much better then the single. He did the single, and it was nice but just not what I wanted and discussed with Alan. Drove the bike over and he reworked and did the first double decker, whic is definitely better. I weigh 225 and 6 foot tall, a lesser weight person may not need it. The only problem I have with my seat is the factory width. My days of riding hard seats are over I want big plushy seats, I bet the double memory foam and gel pad would be even better. Alan, has a picture of my seat after the mod, he called it "The Benny".
Let me say one thing, you can't find a better person to deal with then Alan. If all vendors were like him, life would be great.
I had my stock seat done with a double layer foam from Allen. It seems too hard for me after some time on the road, but much better than stock. Allen is going to work my seat again and will look to add a third layer. In all fairness I am a large man at 300lbs and I am sure I need a little extra. He is excellent to work with and he wants to make sure you are happy. You cannot beat it.
I would not be afraid to give it a try and re-work it if you need to. I would talk it over with him 1st.
I am alsocurious about whether it increases the height. Im planning to send my comfort stitch in to him next week and I dont need the double but might like it for the passenger. But I really want her lower than stock so if it adds height I would not be interested.
Being an old hot rod guy, has anyone thought of putting lizzardskin on their seat pan for heat reduction. it is aceramic coating that repells heat. I think It,s lissardskin.com Dan
When you look at my seat you would think it would raise you up, but it doesn't, it just sinks in and molds around you. I do notice it takes a couple of miles to get a comfortable mold reshaped as it is memory foam, but it feels better.
