Look at it this way, if your forks are 41 MM on the outside, then you need a PVC that will fit over the tubes, then you cut it open like the pics you posted so you can surround the tubes and use it to drive the seals with the tubes installed in the trees yet.....cabish?
See if you can locate some thin wall piping so there's no interfearance with anything.

If the PVC were 41 MM on the outside, it would be the same size as your tubes. You need it to go over your tubes to drive the seal in. Take a look at that pic of the ones you posted and you'll understand better what I'm saying here.

I decided just to take the forks off and have everything changed. It will save me money. It does not look like a big job, but I cant justify buying high dollar tools that I will only use once.

Mendeng8 -

I'm with you, I did that when I bought my chrome lowers at 2K, now 8 months later, I'm doing my 10K, I'll use them more than once, which is all I need to do to make money on the deal, I will also help others do them and share my tools...

Did mine last winter. Hardest part was taking narcelle of to get to it. If you follow the manual
its not hard! The pvc is a good idea(I bent some metal). To compress the springs I put the
forks in a drill press protected by wood top and bottom and lowered the drill. CAUTION!!
DON'T TURN THE DRILL ON! Not much pressure and you will be able to srew on the caps.

Good Luck

This was a RK, right? I talked to a guy at Cyborg cycles yesterday, he said that we don't have to take off the forks, that if you raise the front end of the bike off the ground that the springs are not under that much pressure...he stated that you can push down and get what you need. Problem is, I think with the cartridge in the other baggers, we'll still have to pull off the left fork, turn it upside down and drain it.[:'(]

If you've gone that far to access the top of the forks, and remove the wheel and fender all
you have to do is loosen the pinch bolts on the trees to take the forks off. I think it would put you in a awkward position with bike on lift trying to screw the cap on IMO. Yes it's an 03 RKC.
