Default Flat Tire Repair Kit

Now that I have a Road King I'm venturing a bit farther from home than when I had the Sportster and I am thinking it might be a good idea to carry a tubless tire repair kit and small air compressor or whateverin the event I need to make a temporary repair to get to a shop or dealer for a more permanent fix.

Any suggestions for a decent flat tire repair kit I should get? Tks.

Tom

The Slime one. $20.00 from Walmart. Compressor and a bottle of Slime.

Is it like a small air compressor that comes with it or is some kind of compressed air in a can?

Small compressor which is DC. Either plugs in to a Cig lighter or alligator clips for your battery.

there was a long thread about this the other day. Air compressor without question. Slime Maybe or maybe not. I'd look at the thread. Lots of good info there.

I have the Slime air compressor in my saddle bag along with a plug tool kit. I adapted the leads from a12volt female plug in adapter (purchased at Walmart)to fit the accessory plug (came with the bike) from the battery just above the transmission. Plug in the compressor into the female adapter without the need to remove the seat. The peace of mind having this just in case is PRICELESS !!!!!!!

I have a friend that had a flat on the way to Sturgis. He was prepared with a Slime Compressor, a bottle of Slime and a tire plug kit. He used the bottle of Slime first and pumped up the tire. It held air long enough to pump it up (in less than eight minutes) but went flat again. Because the rear wheel couldn't be rotated as soon as the goop went in, we figure most of it didn't get to the hole. After plugging the hole and re-inflating, the tire held air fine and got the bike to a shop for new rear rubber.

Bottom line is the Slime Compressor works great but a tire plug kit most likely will work better than the bottle of Slime most of the time.

Assuming you have tubeless tires, get a 12v compressor, take the housing off and rob the pump out of it. That and a 3 buck tire plug kit is all you need.
