Today I installed the Tmax Auto Tune and the Rinehart True Duals. Haven't ridden it much so I don't know if the Tmax is working right yet or not but the 07' Ultra runs a lot better. One problem to report though. I rode it about 5 miles to work. Shut it off for about 15 minutes. Rode it to the bank about 8 minutes away. Came back out a few minutes later and the bike wouldn't run worth a flip. It would not stay idling. It would die and I would restart about 3 or 4 times without any improvement. I finally turned the ignition switch off and turned it back on. The bike started right up and ran fine. I hope this is a normal part of the computer trying to learn the setup of the bike. The other thing I noticed is when I hit the key the tach jumps around sometimes. We will see how this thing pans out but I can tell you so far that one of these 2 things or both has made a major improvement in the bikes performance. I got in my IDS today and I may let the dealer do the install. He said he would do the job for 1.3 hours labor. He said they had not installled any yet and was very interested in how well they work. You would think these guys would read these forums to get some first hand knowledge of the problems and fixes out there. I sure would. T.
You need to watch your engine lamp. When starting the bike you need to turn the key to on and wait for the engine lamp to go out, then start the bike.
The IAC valve needs to reset. This is what controls your idle. It counts every-time the key is turned on. If you interrupt it before it can reset, your bike will not idle/runproperly.
Try it and see.
Someone recently posted a thread about an offering from HD for "free install" of IDS for 07 bikes when YOU buy the unit. I would check into that, it just might save ya $100.
I used to wait for the light to go out before cranking but I stopped doing it because someone on here said it was uneccesary. I gotta tell you, I just got back from riding 2 up about 40 miles and my bike pulls better 2 up than it used to solo. I am impressed. Another thing, that loud clunk I used to get when starting is gone, gone, gone. If the IDS lives up to expectations, I will go start selling Harleys, NOT, but will probably recommend them more. The only problem I have is the extra money I am having to spend to get my bike to run the way it should have off the showroom. T.
It will to a point but I think you will have to use your laptop to fine tune the AFR (whatever that is) and some have suggested timing to nail down the base settings so teh auto tune can do teh fine tuning. Just did mine about a month ago and except fotr the decell pop and top end noise the bike pulls much stronger and gets better mileage. I plan to visit the Tmax booth at biketoberfest so they ca do some adjustments and take care of the pop and noise, not wanting to try myself and dont know a local tuner. You ar going to love the IDS trust me.
