Default reinhart tips removal

I just orderd chrome exhaust tips for my reinhart TD's. How hard is it to remove the end caps. I know they each have 3 screws in them, however I'm sure they are going to be a PITA to remove since they have 4,000 miles on them. Any suggestions for removal would be appreciated. So if you have removed your end caps please them me how difficult they are to remove and what you did to make it easier.

Thanks

I took the small screws off, they are a hex on mine, I don't remember the size. Then I used a plastic mallet to tap, ok I banged on it, being careful not to hit the chrome, as I pulled on them. once they got out so I could pull on them, I pulled them with the baffels quite a way and then used the plastic mallet to knock them loose from the baffels. cleaned all the rust that had fallen down in the pipes, shoved the baffels back in and put the new caps on.

I just replaced my black tips turned purple this weekend with new tips the factory sent me. Just remove the three set screws ( be careful not to round the hex head screw). Once the screws are off, move the tip back and fourth and the snug fitting tip will come off. Piece of cake.

If they prove dificult, give them a good soaking with wd-40 and they should loosen up. A light tap may be necessary.

I just bought the quiet baffles for mine and thought I would have to remove the mufflers to drive the baffles. From what you guys have said looks like it's easier to leave them on.

Rinehart recommends spraying the joints with Windex (probably any soapy spray will work, as will WD40 I guess). After removing all three screws if you have the new model, use a rubber mallet and "coax" the tips off by hammering them all around the joint. Whatever you do DON'T use a screwdriver to separate the tips from the muffler -- you'll end up screwing up one or the other.

Pulling the muffler won't do you any good. You'll have a better work platform by leaving them on the bike. I installed the quiet baffles in mine too, also wrapped them with fiberglass cloth before the install. Getting the tips off is the most work involved, but not bad at all if you have a rubber mallet.

Or after loosening the hex screws let the bike run for 10 minutes to heat them up. Then pull them off with a wrench.

Tater, wheredid you find the fiberglass cloth to wrapthe RH baffles? Been wanting to do this tomyRH baffles fora while now, but want to make sure I get the right material to do the job. Also, excellent tip to leave the pipes on the bike. That's gonna save some time and effort. Thanks!
