Time to hide the electrical and chrome out the bars on my Road King Custom. I like the look, shape and feel of my stock bars so I'm having trouble deciding on a new bar. Any experiences out there that might help to enlighten me what looks good and feels right. Thanks
Just put the Chubby Bars on my Road King Classic ... same as stock, only thicker (with wires inside) ... pretty nice! (dunno if the custom bars are same as the classic) ...
I replace mine "first thing" and bought the Bagger bars and Sundowner seat from the dealership.
They required I take apart the headlight cowel assembly and take the bar control wires out of the connectors so I could thread them thru the bars. To ensure I got them in the right place when I put them back I just took a close-up picture with the digital camera.
The next tough part was routing the throttle cables so at lock to lock to the right didn't put the cables into the tank.
I then removed the turn signals from the bars and relocated them on the lower tripple clamp by replacing the 5/16" stud with a course/fine thread stud from the hardware store. Much cleaner look in my opinion.
I need to change the mufflers and headers next, along with the air filter. Any suggestions?
tommy lee this is the most popular question we have online and the hot ticket on the road king

My 2006 HD RK Custom sports a 36" Wild One beach bar... waaaaaaay more comfortable than the awkward stock - so called beach bar. I had this same bar on a previous bike and now could not ride without it. Its pure power steering and control for me. send pm for pics.
Just put Wild Ones 518s on my RKC. I went with them after sitting on Ernie's way cool RKC. If you want bars similar to the stock ones look at the 508s. Also I feel a lot less vibration with the Wild Ones than the stock bars. Last comment is I looked at about 20 bars before going with the 518s. See if you can sit on some RKCs with different bars before selecting one. I'm extremely happy with the 518s and glad I took my time.
I have 1 1/4 bars that I bought from harley. They are 36 inch bars and all the wires go inside the bars for a clean look.
You need extended wire cables and brake line.
