Hey CooCoo, Aren't you riding the crashed bike you repaired yourself? That mean's the quality you are refering to is your own craftsmanship. You don't even own the models you remark about.

The IDS system was being used on Suzuki's when I was working at a shop in 1986.

I'm the first to admit I don't understand a whole lot about physics. But your explanation, while I'm sure is accurate, doesn't really put my mind at ease. In the real world, if I nail the throttle at 2500 rpm with my current configuration, a certain amount of force is applied to the rear pulley. After these engine changes under the same conditions, that force will be multiplied. Not sure if it's a linear correlation, but I am increasing the power of the engine by over 60%. So will the rubber in this IDS hold up under the force the new engine will be capable of producing under hard acceleration.
I know someone else made a comment about a Hayabusa having tons more HP, but I think you still have a valid question here. The power is delivered a lot less smoothly than an inline-four as a result of the design and widely-spaced cylinder firing of the HD V-twin. I would think this would produce a lot more strain on driveline components, especially as you raise the torque. Be curious to see if anyone has *actually* used an IDS on a big V-twin.

Ya know Im one of the happy campers with my 07 and I think choo- choo is a flamin idiot. Im due for my 5000 mile service and Im gonna have IDS installed. Not because my bike has excessive noise but because I feel it will be worth it if and when I trade/sell it. I asked my dealer how many they had installed and was told only one. The bitchers and moaners are congregated on this forum. The majority of the 07 owners are happily riding their bikes and dont appreciate being told they are junk. If you aint got one you need to shut up. I dont need anyone to prod me to stand up for my rights. If you think a small percentage of unhappy people will get HD to do a recall you are as retarded as your post made you sound.

I do not think horsepower or torque make a difference. I have broke parts on all different types of stock vehicles on and off road. It is all in the way you drive it or use it. A EG is not meant to do wheels but I have done it more than one time. If you dont get the rpms right you will hear odd sounds. It takes time to fix problems. The Wright Brothersdid not just jump in a plane and fly. Drive It Like You Stole It. Injoy what you have and make it better

I hear ya, Cogener. Part of the reason I did the IDS install was to find out for myself what it would do for the bike. My bike ran fine before the install, and even better after the install.Only those who have theIDSwill truly know what it does. Those who don'tcan onlytheorize about it.

Shame on you for your honest opinion. That is not what this forum is about. YOU ARE HAPPY? I know that's a lie and everyone on here will tell you so. You should just cry and complain and conform. Please refrain from future postings of this nature as you may start a horrible trend of people thinking for themselves.

I own an 07 Ultra and it has been the worst and bestof the 3 harleys I have owned.

Love the overall ride of a touring bike and the radio...lol

Feel screwed over by the tranny noise, drive train roughness (pulses?), heat from the engine, unexplainable random rough idle, and random shuddering of the engine under mild acceleration butalso by the HD service departments.

I have had it all "fixed/masked" with lots of trips back and forth to the service department and lots of cash out of my pocket,so I now have a bike that mostly lives up to the expectations I had when I bought it. I had based my expectations onpre-07 Glides I had ridden.

In my opinion:
In no way shouldmy bike have been sent out as a final product. Ifmy bike is an isolated problem and most07s arefine, I think HD service would have treated my bike's issuesdifferently.

Was thinking of installing but read there is a bearing that is difficult to press fit. Did you have any problems or any suggestions when doing the install?

MFouts, if you purchase the IDS from Zanotti's they'll press the bearing for you for $12. You won't have to mess with it. Don't tackle the job if you don't have a hydraulic lift of some sort.
