Goldwing issues are probably linked to their resale value.

My brother had a Goldwing a long time ago, and I know plenty of people who have owned them recently. Smooth power. The one's I've ridden have impressed me. I don't like the foot pegs vs. the footboards, and it's all so plasticky and without personality. But those things move out on the highway.

I don't know anything about how reliable they are, but I had a bro in Maryland with one and he told me it takes an act of freaking god to change out the rear tread.

Personally, I'll ride anything at least once and I would definitely take a trip on a Goldwing if given half a chance. They seem like a good bike.

Good luck with open minded responses by the way.

There is no comparison. Just park a Goldwing next to an Ultra classic and stand back and give your HONEST opinion.....I think you will agree, That while the Honda is a big, smooth, quiet piece of plastic, it just does't have that special feel or look that sets it apart..Besides have you hung out at your local jap bike dealer lately..

I don't get it. As many times as it has been pointed out that this is a Harley- Davidson site, people keep posting about metrics. Why?

I don't understand what you mean when you say "I've gotten over the image." Are you telling me that Harley is just another bike and you don't get excited with your's anymore? If you got over it you never had it to begin with. For most of us here, Harley is a way of life. It's more than just a motorcycle. The phrase "If you have to ask, you wouldn't understand" comes in to play here.

Now, I'm the Administrator of this forum and the last thing I want to do is flame anyone. I feel like I'm open minded about things and always try to be fare but why would you ask a bunch of Harley owners on a "Harley Only" forum if you would be better off with a Honda. I believe that no matter what type of bike you own or ride you can still call yourself a biker. If you are a "biker" with a Goldwing then you need to be over at the GL1800 Forum. If you want to know how great a GL1800 is then ask a GL1800 owner. Does any of this make since or have I taken one too many pain pills again. I think it's time for a nap.
