I just read theCEO of Harley-Davidson made $47,000,00 (that's million) in 2005.I suppose thecompany would cut into profits (and his salary) if they fixed the apparent problem with 07 models and the IDS upgrade. His name is Jeffery Bleustein if you want to write him a letter.Corporate greed is killing the working man in my opinion.

That just sounds wrong to me, 47 million??? for 1 year. I would have to read that myself, where did you find those numbers?
Nick is correct. I believe Ziemer had a total compensation package of about $4.2 mil in 2006. Keep in mind that a CEO's primary allegiance is to the stockholders, and that involves a balancing act of making as much profit as possible while keeping the customers happy with the product and service. Harley probably believes that it reacted enough to keep most of the 07 tourer customers happy with their $100 elbow grease discount on the IDS installation labor. Unfortunately there's not much we can do about executive salaries other than communicating ourdiscontent or boycotting their product.

Jeff was one of the influential people involved in the buyback and assisted in returning Harley-Davidson into what is is today. He has been with HD longer than most people posting on this forum. I believe he has earned it. You did a Good job Jeff. Compare their dividends and stock options to that of GM or Ford. If Dell improves a product tomorrow they don't give you a new computer. TheIDS is an improvement over last years model. Should they replace all the Evoultionengines in earlier bikes because theyrun smoother.Every one who complained about the trannies that never failed now have an upgrade that will imrove the ride on several fronts, now with the promotion can get installed for free and that's not good enough. JMHO, but I think it's called revolution (change).

You can write Jeff Bleustein a letter but of course he is the retired CEO(2005) and he probably won't get it. If he was paid $47M it was for only 4 months work...he retired in April. That may be what some consider to be excessive. You may want to write to the board of directors because they are the ones that pay him. Wouldn't they be the ones to blame? Bleustein is alsoone of the group of 13 executives that rescued the company that manufactures our motorcycles from bankruptcy in 1981.Let's see, tranny clatter, bankruptcy. I'll take him on my team.

Seems underpaid if Bleustein made $47M.
You can also write a letter to the current CEO except he was previously the CFO and probably not the guy to reach into the HD check book to address an issue that everybody keeps telling me isn't wide spread.
I know.... facts..they just keep getting in the way of a good argument.
You guys are guaging what the market is doing today to what the man did prior to April 2005. Wake up, new year, new CEO, new problems. I am sure Ziemer is feeling the heat. You guys think it would be grand having a job like that. Not me.Alotof peoplelook at the money and say's, "Man, I would love to have his job." No thanks. If the stock market fell today, your done. GM's CEO makes a grand an hournot countingstock options.
How certain are ya'll about the $100.00 elbow grease discount on the IDS installation. I would love to see something in writing that I could take to my stealership to prove that Harley is paying....Bldr
