I saw a SE Road King at Killer Creek HD in Alpharetta GA. It was black with blue accent paint. That thing looked great. 33K for it.

It kills me to see a bike priced over MSRP but ultiamtely who is to blame, the consumer in my opinion. No most of us won't but it's the folks that will and the recent hype on high dollar bikes that sends these prices thru the roof. And FWIW the 110 engine is not a bolt on option, it's a little more envolved than that.

I walked in to my dealer yesterday (C&S Nashville) to find that they had been sold and saw a SE Ultra in the white and silver. It was a nice looking bike but $36,995! Where do they find people gullable enough to buy these things? That's $400 less than 2 EGC's! In '06 you got a 6-speedinstead of a 5-speed and a 103 with a stroker crank. Now you get the standard 6-speed and bolt on 110 kit and few chrome do-dads but not 16k worth of do-dads!
Nope...6 speed was not standard on any CVO bike before the '07 model. No bolt on kit for the 96" motor to make it a 110"....you have to bore the cases. There is a bolt on kit to make it a 103" though.

If you add up all the parts on a CVO bike, it would cost a person WAY more just in parts, not to mention labor, to take a stock bike to the same place.

Lot's of people out there who are either willing, or don't know any better, and will pay over MSRP...some dealers, like Fat Bastard down in Daytona, charge 10K or more over MSRP...I guess if he can get it, more power to him, but he'd never see a dime of my money. MSRP + freight and maybe set up is a fair price for a CVO, and there are dealers who will do that, just have to call around and find one.

Believe me, there is still plenty you can do to a CVO to personalize it to your liking...

Are they overpriced? No more so than any other HD motorcycle, which are all overpriced, IMO. Look at what you can get for 20-25K in a BMW, Wing, etc...much more bike for the money. BUT, they have no SOUL!!

Do you have to split the case for a 110? It looks like heads, pistons, and jugs to me. No where near as complicated as swapping the crank for an 88 to 103 jump. Many of the people who talk about the price of the parts added to a regular bike are forgetting that the MOCO does not have a box of parts left over when they are done and they do not have the labor of removing the stock parts, disassembly of the engine, etc.

Cases have to be split and bored to go from 96" to 110". If I was going to split the cases to go bigger on my bike, Iwouldn't stop at 110cu in. fo sho!

Absolutely, positively. The kit uses the same crank as the 96", but the cases must be bored to accept the larger jugs, piston assembly. IMO, it's not worth it...taking it to a 103 would be more cost effective, or to a 107, neither of which have to have case splits, and if done right (read, HEAD work), will produce a lot more than any bolt on 110 kit HD can sell you. If I was splitting the cases, I'd take it to a 113, weld the crank, Timken, etc.

Terry: Everytime I go into my dealer I think of your bike; they have its brother on the floor; still looks very sharp with the color, graphics, chopped tour pak, etc. One cool featureare the leather covers over the sides of thedetachable rack beneath the tour pak--hadn't seen that on other HD's.

If you're expecting to find one sitting on the showroom floor, forget it. On rare occasions that happens, but generally these bikes are already spoken for, especially the FLH models. If you want a particular color, the best thing to do is call dealers, working your way out from a radius from where you live, work out a price, put a deposit down (usually 1K) and wait 'till it's built and shipped. Expect to wait some. Some dealers put you on a list and won't take a deposit, but will call when it arrives and first on list gets first option to buy. I had to go 250 miles and wait almost 3 months on my '06 SEUC. I put a deposit down, got the final price via e-mail, then closed when the bike arrived and I had inspected it after they uncrated it (paint issues in 06). My dealer was straight up with me...MSRP plus shipping and a small dealer prep fee, which is a rip off, but part of the price of doing business. I would NOT buy locally, even though the two local dealers had the bike I wanted coming, but would not budge off the 2K over MSRP price.

Dealers know what colors and how many they are going to get, and a general idea of when they will receive the bike....if you want one, that's the only sure way to get it. The anniversary color is really nice this year on the CVO bikes....looks nothing like the "regular" anni colors. It is much darker and has gold flakeand gold stripes...very nice!!

Regardless of what people think/say, these bikes are relatively rare when you think that only about 1800 of the Anniversary SEUC3 will be built for the entire world, and only about 4200 of all SEUC3's altogether. Springers and Dyna's are a little bit easier to get than the touring bikes.

Earl Smalls in marietta ga and their other store in cartersville ga. have several . Last week, two white/silver and the red/silver, tthey have a copper/black with yellow 105th anny cvo springer softail. The cvo anny models are limited to 1005 units each so even these are not that rare thats over 20 for every state in the usa. Harley will make a slew of cvos so just keep looking they are not that rare, its just early in the production year. Any color SECVO that is not of the copper/black color is not a anny model it is just a production run cvo bike.
