SE Ultra $36,995
I agree with Blueslover...you can build a nice 103" that will be better than the 110" and cost less.
Also the factory110"is not all that great in stock form because they are still EPA controlled. Change the pipes, possibly the intake and get the bike dyno tuned using a SERT or PCIII and you will get all the power. Remember, HDs numbers are at the crank...not the wheel.
I would never buy any bike that over MSRP. My wife liked the SE Ultra and all the goodies but for $38K...no thanks.
Earl Smalls in marietta ga and their other store in cartersville ga. have several . Last week, two white/silver and the red/silver, tthey have a copper/black with yellow 105th anny cvo springer softail. The cvo anny models are limited to 1005 units each so even these are not that rare thats over 20 for every state in the usa. Harley will make a slew of cvos so just keep looking they are not that rare, its just early in the production year.
Bike sales are slow now, regardless of model/make...HD is taking a beating, lowering production, etc in an effort to prop up pricing, and it will probably get worse before it gets better. They are also having quality control issues, IMO, which, if they don't address soon, will hurt them badly in the long run. I'm 56 years old, loyal to HD, but customers like me are dying out, and the younger buyer demands a high quality, trouble free product, no matter what it is, so HD had better get it together quickly, and produce a trouble free product that appeals to the 30 something year old buyer who can go spend 10 K or less and get something faster, more reliable, and with more features, bells, and whistles. The MOCO better stop worrying about their stock prices and do some serious R&D, address quality, and dealer/customer relations before it's too late. A LOT of parts on your HD are made in China now...crankshafts being one.
We all know that a top of the line product brings top of the line $$.
Harley has a product line (from Sporty to SE Ultra), just like GM (Cobalt to the Top Cadillac). If they are asking $45 grand for a bike, the dealer must have buyers for that bike. If not, they would drop the price. Simple supply and demand.
At the Metrodome in MN, they sell a beer for about $6.75. Is is worth it??? To some it is.
Bottom line, we all have our idea of a "Dream Bike". Some guys prefer the SE, and will drop down for it.

I checked. So far, I've spent $340 adding goodies to my Ultra, mostly in the IDS, heat shields and fork wind deflector. Just another $400 and it will be just like I want it.
If I had the bucks, I would certainly get an SE, but since I don't, I am content with the Ultra as it comesplus the few things I want extra.
I was at Bruce Rossmeyers in Daytona and they had a SE Ultra for 55,000 (2008). VERY proud of it if you ask me. It looked good but not 55,000 worth.
Adamec in Jacksonville had one on the floor last week, looked at it several times over a weeks period, (08 in the silver/white) for around $36,500.
