Performance upgrades...what to do first??
I bought an '07 Ultra today and am open to suggestions for performance enhancements that could provide a little power boost. I want to start off slow with minimal mods and work my way up gradually, instead of doing a lot at once. So, where would you start?
how much money do you have is the first answer
what do you have too spend or for that factwilling too spend?
Remeber performance is endless based on your goal.
If it is an all stock bike I would run mufflers and a stage one air cleaner with a download from hd.
This based on how much money you have to spend and what you want out of the bike.
If you are willing to spend more then that I would look at a set of pipes and a K&N air cleaner (take your pick)
with a after market ecu help (power commander, sert, or the other big price boys that really do the job right)
Rember this is all based on how far you want to go.
If you change the air cleaner and pipes you will need to add fuel.
Theway itworks now a days is not just changing a jet in yourS&S carb.

depends on how much and how fast.
Option 1:Stage 1, pipe (FatCat 2-into-1 or the V&H ProPipe are good choices for power), and a fuel management (ie the V&H FuelPak) is a start.
Option 2: If you plan on upgrading in stages, then stage 1, pipes, and a Zipper's AutoTuner. The Autotuner is more up front, but it will save you big time not having to get the bike tuned every time you change something.
Option 3: Do option 2 and add Cams and heads, this is where you will get the biggest power increases once you have a free flowing pipe.
Option 4: If you have plenty of money add increased displacement.
I personnally do not recommend just doing the 103 kit without cams and Heads at the same time. Remember that bigger isn't always better, sometimes it's just bigger.[sm=signs003.gif]

stage 1 is enough for me...i dont ride fast on hd, i only want a cooler and eficient ride, so stage 1 is enough....pipe, air cleaner, sert.....
if i want ride fast, i ride my other bike (read sportbike)....ride fast on hd (especially ultra classic) is not comfy for my body and for my feeling.....useless.....

I'm not so much interested in top end speed as much as more "punch" and responsiveness for passing. The stock bike goes as fast as I need, or want to.
