Stage 1............K&N RK3909 $104.00, Cobra Fi20002 $230, Screamin Eagle slip on pipes, $225.total $559.........Sounds better,Bike is running cooler, great throttle responce and all bolt on do it yourself...All shopping done on Ebay
Leave baggers stock. It's like flushing money down the toilet. Spend a fortune for a little bit of power and you don't get a penny of it back when you sell or trade the bike.
I've running on a set of porker slip ons, and a cobrafi20002 mod, and I'm planning on a S/E air cleaner.I was'nt all that thrilled with the cobra mod, it seemed a little slow on the throtle response, kind of a disappointment. Anyway I was thinking about dumping the cobra, getting a SE air cleaner, and donig the HD download, the basic stage one job. What I get from the dealer and what you guys can tell me are two different things. Will I notice the upgrades, and will the throtle be there, or am I just making it louder, with no real performance.
Thanks
I was told by the dealer that unless you run all SE parts the download may or may not work and regardless you are out at least $150. Thats why I went with V&H. You can look up your mapping on the internet just by plugging in your mods. It beats the HD download not working or actually making your bike run worse.
I bought an '07 Ultra today and am open to suggestions for performance enhancements that could provide a little power boost. I want to start off slow with minimal mods and work my way up gradually, instead of doing a lot at once. So, where would you start?
How much more power you really want? Straight line performance or do you actually want to take a turn? What's a big-bore kit cost with installation? What's the electronics and super charger and all the K&N and Reinhardt stuff gonna cost you? How much do you *really* want to enhance the total bike or do you just want bragging rights? Look at your goal first before dropping any cash.
For $3-grand you can get a sweet used 600cc stock bike that'll run circles around *anything* you could build on a Harley frame. Seriously, if you want to go *fast*, I would suggest that you have the wrong bike. You can buy a Hayabusa for go-fast *AND* an Electraglide Standard for touring for the cost of a fully outfitted Ultra with a few extra options.
thats what i have told him.....do stage 1 maximum, let the bagger run cooler and eficient, and if still want to ride faster, get another fast bike....
he can get a fast sweet bike for 3000-4000 ish......
ride a real fast bike, make u ride fast and safer than ridea slow bikefast.....trust me....
Let me be more clear. What I am looking for is NOT more high end speed to go fast. The Ultra will go as "fast" as I ever want to ride. What I DO want is some more "grunt" or "torque" when I'm passing a truck on a 2 lane road and a short window of opportunity to do it. I want to fell confident when I commit to make the pass. I'm sure you all have been there. You patiently wait for the chance, and it finally comes up a grade, and you need to "punch and go". That's what I'm looking for, not 125mph on the flats.

Have you actually ridden the bike? If you actually let the thing rev above 2500RPM it'll go just fine.
I think I should open a "how to really ride a Harley" clinic.
I think there's a lot of great advise in this post and I would say it all depends on your budget. It becomes a sickness once you start you can't stop. I have some customers that every year they almost change their entire bike theme on the customs we do. So I would suggest pick a budget and then sit down with what ever shop your close to and trust and
get ur done! Ordering via the internet is great if your mechanicly inclined, but if not to walk into a shop with a hand full of parts ...... is like walking in a resturant with your own steak. Besides most of the time I found that can meet or beat people like JP Cycle etc......so shop for a shop or HD dealer and sit down with the writer.
