Default Ape hangers for RKC

Thinking of getting ape hangers for my 08 RKC. Not sure of the height (nothing real high). Not sure how the handling will change as a result. Any thoughts.

Thanks.

Do yourself a favor and before you switch out the handlebars to apes, get some molex connectors and some color matched wiring and make up an extension for the throttle sensor, say about 4" in length. Plug this extension in and ride with the stock bars on for quite some time and see if there is any issues with resistance drop, etc. and the throttle. If all is well then go ahead and change out the bars. I adapted a set of bars, but there was enough slack in the sensor wiring to change them out. If you go with apes you will likely have to lengthen the sensor wiring and the MOCO does not offer extensions. You will also void any warranty if that matters to you.

^^^^Thats some SOLID advice there bro,but if you decide to get them, make sure you get at least 6" on the pullback.I had some 12"'s made with 3" pullback and my shoulder blades were killing me after a couple of hours.I went up to some la choppers16" with 6"on the pull back and man i'm talkn 'sweet spot' for comfort.I can ride for days with this set up!!!
I'm 5'8 by the way.

I putwide-glide "mini-apes" on my FLHR and they're perfect for me (Mustang solo seat and 6'1" tall). Perfect hand placement for me and $50 retail at the dealer ain't badeither.

Not doing push-ups on the grips anymore and I'm real happy with the way mine handles. No cable/wire/brake stuff replaced - just straighten the brake tube out and good to go.

Would a be a quickway to see what you thinkand find out if taller would be better for you by investing just 50 anda six-pack worth of time first. Then spend more if you need to.I don't need taller myself.

I went with 12.5" Chubby Wild 1 bars. I love the bike. Once you get use to the slow speed turns (and U-Turns) you will kick yourself for not doing it sooner.

I went to the dealer a couple days ago to get the chrome Heritage stock replacement bars for $50 for my RKC (since they slap right on without worrying about cables). But, sitting on a Heritage at the store I noticed they're much narrower than stock RK bars. I didn't like the feel of arms being brought in (I like a wider stance), plus the narrower bars wouldn't look good on the RK's wide "stance" to me.
Dealer also suggested the "Mini-apes". I rested them on a RK and sat on it. Same issues.
I thought the Heritage bars were a good option (cheap, no cable problems), but too narrow.
So, now it looks like it'll cost some bucks to get some with a wider grip. And bars aren't something you just buy on-line without having tried 'em first (on someone elses bike with same seat, etc.)
The stock RK's grip aren't angled down enough for my wrists. Bothers the hell outta me!

Check out Wild 1 Inc's Chubby bars. I have 14"s on my Road King and they are perfect. I am 5' 11" and they put my arms out straight. I love these bars, they are very comfortable. Ceck with Wild 1 because they sell blems for much less. I have bought 3 sets from them with no problems at all.

Thanks for a ll the advice. Will have to see what I can find this winter. Still a little concerned about the electronic throttle cable, don't need to screw that up.

was at a cycle swap meet in Michigan this weekend, bought some leather fringe for the bike. By next spring it should be all set.
