I picked up my bike (2008 RKC w/ about 2k miles)from the dealer service dept. yesterday after having my handlebars changed under warranty (they were delivered scratched), and I have a couple of concerns that I’d like input on before I go speak with the service manager:
The throttle grip now rattles a little bit – if you grab it with two fingers up near the switch housing, it’s got about 1mm of lose play. It’s driving me nuts when I ride, especially at idle, because I feel it rattling in my hand.
For some reason the fuel gauge is now lose. When I got the bike home, I noticed that the gauge was no longer flush with the tank, but cocked up on one side. I was able to press it back in, but now it can be lifted out with two fingers where it had always felt solid before.
Am I being totally ****, or are these legit complaints?
Definitely BRING it back. I have always shmoozed the service dept. at my dealer.
They treat me real well. Sometimes I have a pizza delivered to `em or a six pack late on Friday.
It gets so that they like me to show up.
You're not being ****. With the money you shelled out they should be at least treat you with some respect
and fix these items. If they are annoying now, in 6 months you will be crazy. It's a fact of life that
not every "vehicle" is perfect on arrival. Car dealerships expect you to come back with small issues.
Why shouldn't HD dealers be any different. They of course won't do anything with out you telling them
although it seems sad that obvious items are ignored!

They didn't adjust your throttle cables properly - some people for some reason like a lot of freeplay at the throttle - easily rectified.

I have no clue why they'd have messed with the fuel gauge - they need to fix that too. I'd give them a phone call and arrange to take it back.
