When Harley introduced the Street Glide in '06, did they change the design of the swingarm/change the location of the mounting points for the shocks or did they just use the 1" shorter shocks to lower it?
If they did the latter, could I use the same lowering kit that I used on my '03 standard electra glide?
1" shorter shocks. I test rode one. W/the shorter shocks, it doesn't ride a damn bit better than my Softail (washboard freeway @ 75 Mph) I followed a guy and a gal on one a few weeks ago on a bad stretch of 880 just south of Oakland. Her a$$ was literally coming off the seat. She was easy a buck 30 too.
While enjoyable to watch, I felt sorry for her.
I'm told on those, the way to go is, use stock shocks and use the lwr'ing kit (eg; White bros' etc)
Yeah, with a pillion, the rear end is a little harsh, even with max air pressure. I may just put the stock 'Glide shock settings in play when I have Traxxion do the whole bike next year. I got the street glide primarily for the more stripped down look and that gorgeous white, rather than the lowered *** end. Plus, dropping the *** end softens the turn-in response, albeit a TINY bit.
