if your are going to pry anything use a plastic putty nife to reduce any scratching.

You maybe able to use a screw driver on the speed nuts as mentioned above, But will be a PITA..

Best thing to do is jack the bike and drop the front tire.

Anything worth doing is worth doing right. That is if you don't have the money to do it twice!
