WOW!!! nice work there........something a little confusing is that youre using a 12 volt source to turn on the remote? the remote isn't 12 volt device is it? I guess it could be with 2 tiny 6 volt batteries originally. might have to give this mod a try myself

I was thinking the same thing, I just had to replace the battery in my remote and it uses a 2032 battery, just 3v. I guess that 12v should work it just might have give the remote a shorter lifespan.

Not all GDO are 12v. Mine was 12v. So it was easy. You can use a 3v but you will have to use resistors to drop the bike's voltage to 3v at the GDO.

Thanks Murph, I figured that must have been the case. Great write up and motivation. One less thing to remember to bring with me every morning. ;-)

Default Galaxy s3 phone mount?

New to the touring world. Looking for a good mount to put phone/gps on.
Maybe bar mount or inner fairing mount??? Which would be less vibration?

My mount I believe is a version of a Ram mount made to fit the Harley switch housing. I may be wrong and it may be a Harley item, but Ram mounts are the way to go.

Not particularly hi-tech but have a look at the Cell Buckle. Easy on and off, inexpensive, and it can be used for different items. You can find them through several different distributors, including J&P and Motorcycle Superstore.
